Pretty well done! The game runs really smoothly, and the artwork is beautiful. Also, the technical art looks great—great job!
And I think the tutorial is really cute haha, I love it.
Love the artwork for this game and the random set of power ups you get which make you change up your strategy each round.
I really enjoyed this one-such a clever twist on Blackjack and turning biscuits into cards made the gamble feel strangely addictive. I loved how every choice carried real tension, especially with the power-ups that could help me or bust the baker. The visuals are fantastic and super charming, they pulled me in right away.
That said, I think a couple of things could make it even stronger. I didn’t always notice when the chef’s abilities were triggering so a bigger visual cue or effect would help make those moments pop more. Same with plated upgrades: it’d be great if their value showed more clearly on screen, since I wasn’t always sure at a glance.
The music is catchy, though after a while I felt the loop starting to repeat on me and the menu button sounds came across a little louder than the rest of the mix. Not a big deal, but some small tweaks there could really polish the experience further.
Overall though, I had a lot of fun with this. it’s original, well executed and has so much charm. Definitely one of my favorite jam entries I’ve played so far. Great job!
thanks for the thorough review! the functionality of the powerup biscuits came down to the wire so we didn't have much room to animate the chef's choice of powerup so that is a great rec :)
I love the black jack styled gameplay and although simple, the game was quite fun! The music loop was cool at first but it got annoying after ~2 minutes of playing and the menu buttons were too loud compared to all the other audio. Other than that - really solid work, loved your game :)
Nicely presented, but perhaps a little slow-paced for what is a relatively simple blackjack game. I never saw the chef use one of their abilities in my play, or if they did I didn't notice so perhaps some sort of full-screen flourish when that occurs would have been good.
Cool art
I lost my 1st round, but then on my 2nd try I got in a groove and absolutely obliterated that pesky cat... Good idea making a blackjack game for this jam, and tying it into the biscuit theme. Also, I like when the song changes chords... it's a nice change! Cheers
I didn't really understand everything at first, but then it clicked, and it was enjoyable ^^: The graphics are really good, the concept is nice, and adding items is a great idea. Congratulations, that's a solid entry =)!
very well polished and it fits the jam theme very well
Nice job creating a competitive blackjack. There is some funny strategies you can pull with forcing the house (chef) to bust via the power-ups. Visuals were great and cute! Honestly, I had to mute the audio, it did not hit. I encountered a lot of visual bugs, double clicking buttons, and misleading text that wouldn't despawn. Otherwise, great job!
Nice game bro. I really liked the art and the whole idea of risking
Finally, something i can train my 3 year old cousin the idea of blackjack. We will raid the casino soon, thank you.
Nice take on the classic blackjack. Many power-ups and the chance of picking up a cookie that lowers your score are a nice creative additions which add a lot of variety into the game! The visuals and music are also amazingly done here!
Keep up the good work!
This is art is fantastic and the game really encapsulates the theme well! I enjoyed the transition animation between scenes it's all really well polished.
Quite a charming game and looks quite polished as well, the music was nice but it can be a bit longer so the loop does not get too repetitive maybe? Managed to win 3-2 against chef with some luck in the end :P
Very charming game, everything was super cute! Would love to see more work in your artstyle!
Such a charming game! Love some culinary blackjack
Interesting little game, reminds me of balatro :D
Great game! Loved the mix of black jack and upgrades. I would maybe just add the value of the plates you "see" with the upgrade, because it's hard to tell from just the drawing.
Thanks for the feedback, definetely something that was put on the backburner that didn't make it into the jam build :( either way definetely something we'll try and put in if we continue to develop!
