I felt bad that there is no average score, because some teams aimed for all categories, not just one. So I just scrapped the results page and made a table. I agree with "Mark" that "Overall" is questionable, but I still think "average" is a valuable score, so I decided to share it.
Ok so I beat most of the game without picking up the skull. I feel like I probably missed out on a lot good dialogue.
I did brute force some of the puzzles, I wonder if the skull might have helped with those. anyways...
That's honestly great to know, we tried to design the game in such a way that players could explore, find clues and be meticulous or take a direct approach and learn from their mistakes. Thank you for playing!
For some reason I decided to record my playthrough (which I never do) so if you're interested here it is: https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/mq1m4fk8golxtgfuxzghw/Amethyst_Cut_2.mp4?rlkey=lk...
There's a cut in the middle because I almost give up at one point and stopped recording. I think it's only missing one short death.
I'll delete this in a couple weeks so if you want to keep it by any chance make sure to download it.
This game was so cool! I can't believe you guys made such a sophisticated dungeon in such little time! The artstyle was great, voice acting was hilarious, and the puzzles were well made. Though I admit I got stuck for far too long on one of them because I forgot I could use the lighter...
Overall, just a fantastic entry, great job!!
Lovely! Impressed with the voice acting and how many puzzles you squeezed in, even if they are a tad obtuse at points. Nice job!
Cool game. Like the style and the puzzles, but I couldn´t play much because I got stuck in the wall. It happen twice.
Thanks for playing! We did find a bug that sent the player out of bounds although its never turned up again and we couldn’t replicate it in play-testing. Just wondering how it happened so we can fix it post-jam?
Not sure. At some point I realized I could buffer turn around to move faster across the dungeon. So I just press right or left while the character was moving forward to the next tile and it turned into the wall. Couldn't get out of the wall. It happen to me twice.
Honestly fantastic, fun, Cozy Frog does it again. Criminally gone unnoticed, it is a really good game that should be give a shot!! A short little adventure with loads of fun, effort and style cram packed in!
dripping, oozing with style. hilarious, fun, visually interesting. incredible for just two people. criminally underrated. i hope this goes far cause damn it's good!
thanks for playing! Really enjoyed seeing you check this out on steam, it was by far the tightest jam we’ve done so the good feedback means alot!
Basically couldn't flaw this one!!! Incredible art and audio, love the voice acting, love the puzzle elements, and I LOVE LOVE LOVE the note taking and map elements. Having to play through the same puzzle over and over has never felt more fun, and being able to learn from your past (predecessors) mistakes is a fantastic idea mechanically and thematically! You should be super proud of this, well done!!!
loved every second of the game 10/10
What a great game! This is a great use of the theme where you gain knowledge about the place as you go through. Huge congrats
Great voice acting and awesome narrative! Love the art and feel of the game, and it seemed perfectly paced. From a game design perspective you did a great job of leading the player in the right direction while letting them explore and make their own decisions. Very impressive that you did this in such a short period!
Thanks, won't lie, this was by far the most stressful and down-to-the-wire and longest hours jam we've ever done, but we are happy we mostly finished.
Wow this is awesome! I love the old school 3d game feel. And as a fellow jam participant the fact that you made a 3d game blows my mind. I love the art, I love the interactability (like I know its literally the first challenge in the game and is super simple, but figuring out to use the lighter on the cobweb made me feel smart hahah). I like that the torches serve both to light up your path and also as a reminder of where you've visited.
I didn't manage to get too far unfortunately, I got a little stuck after getting the golden key, I could see where I need to use it but I couldn't find a way to get there. Admittedly I didn't spend too long trying too though of course.
Amazing work! :)
excellent fun! I think I got really far? (I opened the ruby door and got the hook on a rope)
genuinely really enjoy the voice acting, amazing touch

Glad you enjoyed it, the game is very non-linear, you can beat it without exploring half the dungeon, but the more you do, the easier things become, the ruby door does take a lot of exploring to unlock though, so well done ^^
i found playing it really intuitive, I only died a few times and that was for really silly things that I leart from and didnt make the same mistale again.
Your game did a great job of teaching the player to only fail when it can't be helped. Plus counting the number of torches you light felt like a great way to track progress.

I really enjoyed the mood/ atmosphere of this game. I think it's pretty charming and has a good sense of humor
Thankyou! Glad you liked it<3
I love the art style and controls, and the humour & voice acting are incredible! Everything feels very smooth and polished. Unfortunately I could progress much: I found a bucket, a golden key, and a chest that presumably can be opened by that key? But I couldn’t figure out what to do next?
Anyways, congrats on the submission! Would love if you tried ours as well!
Glad you enjoyed it! The game design is very open-ended and non-linear to promote exploring and mapping out the dungeon as you progress. It's a slow burn.
