Pretty cool game. The art feels really polished and the gameplay is satisfying. I loved that it is balanced in favour of the player, so it feels relaxing and not stressful. You can take your time and you will always progress, but your skill determines how fast you do so. Hope we get more of it! Good job!
Thank you! I'm glad you liked it
Really polished and complete! However the gameloop was a bit confusing at first.
Thanks for playing! I should've made the tutorial a bit clearer, saying something like "here you sell your vase of £10, and here you buy and apple for £3"
VERY polished, plays nicely. I just feel like it is quite boring to play, it might just be me, it's just not my type of game. Maybe its the lack of stakes, I don't really see what I'm doing, or what my aim should be. Maybe it could be the lack of guidance, I just feel quite lost. Anyway, hope this helps, well done with the game!
Thanks for playing! I'm guessing you didn't finish the game, but did you at least come to the second level where your wife is dying? Lots of the stakes in this version is story based, but I also didn't want the game too hard in the jam. The aim is to buy wares as chep as possible and then sell them more expensivily, but I think you got that part.
I really enjoyed playing. This has so much potential for later expansions, I would love to play again if you decide to develop the game further
Thank you! The game now had a steam page, it would mean a lot if you wishlisted it so you get notified when it releases :D https://store.steampowered.com/app/3930780/Merchanting_in_1346/
Fun game! It's cool to see a similar approach but with different mechanics!
Had a lot of fun playing! I was expecting the idea to get a bit boring as I played but I I found it really addicting. It felt great to plan out a route and the random events added some nice variation. I also really enjoyed the art and music!
Thank you! I was *so* close to scrapping the prototyp when I've worked 9 hours on it, because it was very boring without the random events, and back then it was free to pick up items. But after changing that the gameplay loop got so much better!
good game, excited to see if you add more to it. this particular circle seems to be bugged as I have seen it multiple times with a buy and sell option.
Thanks for playing! That circle will get fixed the the postjam update, I found out that I had managed to place two circles on top of eachother there.
Awesome game! Really creative concept and a lot of fun to play. I didn't go home for several days and never felt like it was harming my progress, so maybe a bigger penalty or an incentive would help, it never seemed worth it to go home especially on the bigger map as it felt like buying and selling more always got me closer to my goals and any penalty was a minor inconvenience.
Thanks for playing! I'm glad you liked it. I'll rework the day/night system a bit in future updates. I also didn't want the robberies to feel to penalising in a jam game, I don't want to make people loose all their progress.
The game now had a steam page :D I would be very grateful if you wishlisted it https://store.steampowered.com/app/3930780/Merchanting_in_1346/
One of the best games in the best games in the jam and it deserves a LOT of recognition and you should be PROUD that you have not only made this game for the jam, but also the fact that you have the skills to pull this off
Thanks a lot for all the praise on stream!
Awesome game!
Thank you!
A fantastic game all around. I got the vinegar for my wife but then got mugged and they took it 😭😭😭
So much fun. Great work!
You got the secret *totally not bugged* ending in which you get softlocked and your wife dies haha. Unfortunate, but thanks for playing!
it is good to see new ideas here, the story is great and the gameplay is unique
Thank you! I'm hoping to expand it further
fairly good game. The audio was at a good volume. I understand the going home part for narrative reasons and to make it fit the theme however its whole purpose seems to be to just limit the player, I think it would make sense if it was a scenario where you had to make x amount of money in x amount of days in which case it can add to the game but as it is, the game would feel better if you didn't have to go back to the house each day and it wouldn't really sacrifice the narrative if there just wasn't days as it isn't something the player would think of. would also be nice if buttons could also work for movement as clicking becomes annoying after a while. I also done the 7 vases and was going to do the last challenge but the antidote got stolen and no way of getting thyme it seems so gave up.
Thanks for the indepth review and feedback! Yeah, I'll definitely tweak the days system, perhaps simply making the days longer could make the experience smoother. I'll add a +1 to the challenges, even the last challenge, getting the antidote stolen is a bug that'll get fixed in a postjam update (in addition to some more polish)
Very nice and relaxing atmosphere. I really like the artwork and sound. Great Job!
Thank you!
Solid idea with some fun little interactions :D.
You can soft-lock yourself by moving onto a event that shows a prompt while holding an item.
Thanks for playing! I'm unsure what you mean about the softlock, could you clarify how you trigger it?
Ahhh weird, I'm trying it again, but now I can't seem to get it. I was in the "hovering item" state and then the prompt showed up at some point, I actually can't seem to replicate the issue how hard I try...
It happened initially on the 2nd level
Hmm, weird. Well at least it shouldn't be that common then.
Amazing work. I wish I could travel multiple slot at once, but overall really well made and polished
I'm glad you liked it! You're not the first one who wants to be able to do that, I'll most likely implement it. The difficult part is to know what path to take, there could be multiple that are the same length.
Nice game! There is a lot of attention to detail in the artwork, and it was fun to build up currency by continuously buying and selling. Well done!
Thanks for playing!
I do like the concept! Simple and cozy.
I hope to see if it gets expanded.
Thanks! I really hope so too
The steam page is live! Wishlist it and get notified when it releases sometime next year https://store.steampowered.com/app/3930780/Merchanting_in_1346/
Thats a brave move to make this game! And only you made it in only 96 hours? Respect bro!
Enjoyed this one for a very long time. Love it would like to play more<3 Hope you expand it :3
Thank you for playing! There will be more to come :D
I'm just thinking of all the "definitely not too big in scope ideas" like adding multiplayer and a level/event editor. But if not that there will atleast be a lot more content and bigger maps! Having storage in your home and travelling back to earlier "levels" to sell for even higher profits are also some ideas.
