Welcome to the very first TMU NEW MEDIA GAME JAM! This is a 2-week, cozy, stressful, game-making challenge: EXCLUSIVELY for TMU New Media students.
What the hell is New Media?!
Good question. New Media is complex and difficult to define, but New Media is an Undergraduate University program at Toronto Metropolitan University.

Submission Guidelines
- Games must be uploaded to itch.io and submitted to the game jam page
- Jammers must fill out this form along with their submission. This is to ensure that the jam submission is actually from a New Media student. The form is due at the end of the Grace Period.
- The game must be playable with a Mouse and Keyboard.
- The game must be made and submitted by a New Media student. We will check!
Rules
- REDACTED!!! SECRET RULE UPON THEME REVEAL!
- Only New Media students and alumni can join the jam. You may ask for small bits of outside help (ie asking your musician friend to write a track) and use pre-made assets from online. Let's say, non New-Media contributors are limited to a maximum of 2 hours of help (give or take.)
- No generative AI of any kind is allowed for this jam.
- Games must be appropriate for a school setting. This means no games with sexual content, overt gore and violence.
- Your game should only be worked on during the jam’s live time! This also means no updates during the review period after submission.
- Grace interval. After Jam Phase ends, for 2 days, updates to submissions are permitted. Uploads are closed after this time to ensure that jammers finish development at the end of the jam.
- The game must be playable with a Mouse and Keyboard.
- All submissions must adhere to the Toronto Metropolitan University Student Code of Non-Academic Conduct
Teams
- You may team up with other students for a total of 4 students per team.
- Every student in the team must be a New Media student or alumni! You may ask for small bits of outside help (ie asking your musician friend to write a track) and use premade assets from online. However, they will not be counted as a team member and/or make significant contributions to the project.
Let's say, non New-Media contributors are limited to a maximum of 2 hours of help (give or take.)
- If you would like to be a part of a team, you may find one at our jam kick-off event OR in the New Media official discord server’s looking-for-team channel.
Discord
- Live communication and event tracking for the jam will occur on the New Media official discord server. Because it is a (more) private community, it won’t be linked here… but if you need a link, visit the makerSpace or message the New Media instagram.
- However, you may use any platform for communication within your team!
