This was a fun twist on Battleship!

The setup looks simple, but it’s actually quite tense as you try to figure out where the enemy could be hiding. The power-ups were useful, and there was a nice sense of suspense with every turn, wondering if you’d get hit. The controls were simple and worked well, and the visuals of the ship were ok. The rest of the board could do with some extra art UI etc.

Some extra effects, like splashes when missing or visualizing the beacons on the board, would be nice additions. The existing SFX worked well, but sounds for sailing or placing beacons would also help bring the game to life. There’s definitely room for some extra polish, but the core is already solid and enjoyable.

The theme was present—check!

All in all, a fun and solid jam entry! 🚢🎯👏 Keep going!

I like this take on battle ship,  You took this from a boardgame, an di think with some minor  adjustments you could actually turn this into a boardgame as well .I like this silent die after you get hit, otherwise it would be way to easy to figure out where somebody is.

I really liked the way this game encourages you to use math, logic, and reasoning to win without asking “What’s 6 + 4 and why can’t this red paint turn me blue?”

The fact that you had an inspiration that heavily affected your game without just copying it was really good. There have been a few “inspired” games this jam that just rip tangible concepts (like art or mechanics) from the inspiration.

I, someone who plays a lot of turn based strategy, had no problem honing in on and tracking ToonSix’ position at all times. Similar to keeping track of how many Quick Readies my opponent has used in Bloons Card Storm and thus how many they could have in hand. (Quick Ready is in just about every deck in that game and there can be up to 3 copies of it in a deck)

Fits the theme pretty well. Art felt a tad lazy (Godot’s default unstylized button texture was used, for example) and the audio was slightly above average. Gameplay and innovation are where this game really shines, though.

I like the different take on battleship. But I feel there is only one viable strategy, start on either end of the enemy's spawn area. Then follow the movement and add or subtract 1 to try the next possible place. When the enemy moves a random distance. Add one to last known location and rinse and repeat.

Nice ship

It has a interesting gameplay aspect to find out the position of the other boat. It has great potential though i feel like the UI and sounds could use some improvements but it doesn't take away from the exprience!

The game rules are hard to read due to the color and background. The UI could use some improvement as well. Unfortunately, there is no music or sound and a tutorial would be better than having so much text for the rules.

Other than that, it’s a nice idea to reimagine the classic battleship game. However, I don’t really see how it connects to the game jam theme here. Still, a solid concept with potential! With some polish it could be even better.

Nicely done with the theme! It definitely felt like I was stuck in an endless loop until I hit the enemy—then they hit me right back, and the game was on.

This is a really clever interpretation of the classic Battleship game! The art works quite well, and the sound effects add a lot to the overall experience. I do think that the gameplay can be improved, I found myself having no input on the outcome of the game. Adding items like powerups or something would allow for more strategy, which helps keep the player engaged. It can be a little boring when it's just luck. Well done!

I feel like I'm doing something wrong. I always missed and only got two silent dice which are not helping me hit anything. Once you hit, you can keep hitting as long as you see what the enemy rolls I suppose.

The pixelated text is hard to read. Especially white on white shimmering water, thicker outlines or a higher resolution would help.

In the help screen you show several walls of text... In general a more interactive tutorial or simpler gameplay would be better. Like just show some help for each action when you can perform it and explain items when you get them.

It's a nice innovative idea though and fits the theme well. Maybe something with fog would have been a good idea: A duel in a mostly fog covered arena where you can sometimes see the enemy, the rest could maybe stay the same.
