ONE MORE RUN III – Indie-to-Arcade Jam

Theme: “Don’t Fall Off a Cliff”

Short runs, big stakes, and one wrong step away from the void. ONE MORE RUN III is your chance to make a game that might leave the screen and end up on a real Luxodd arcade cabinet in bars, cafés, lounges, and campuses.

Use any engine or language you like. If it’s fast, clear, and arcade-ready, we want to see it.

Why This Jam Exists

From PC Build to Bar Cabinet

We’re Luxodd Games, and we’re building a connected indie-to-arcade network. We’ve already taken games like Wabisabi (mobile) and Star Carrier Catalyst (PC) and rebuilt them for physical cabinets, shown at the Portland Retro Gaming Expo and in early pilot venues.

ONE MORE RUN III is the next step. If your jam entry feels like it belongs on a cabinet – short loop, loud reactions, people lining up for “one more run” – we’ll talk with you after the jam about porting it into the Luxodd ecosystem. That real-world shot is the most exciting prize on the board.

Prizes

Cash on the Table, Cabinets in Your Future

Place Cash Prize Arcade Opportunity
🥇 1st $200 USD Strongly considered for a full Luxodd arcade port and onboarding.
🥈 2nd $100 USD May be invited for follow-up talks if it feels like a natural cabinet fit.
🥉 3rd $50 USD Also on our radar for future Luxodd events and jams.

If we move forward with a port, we’ll support Luxodd SDK integration, input and pacing tweaks for arcade play, and placement in our internal test network with potential to appear on live cabinets.

Theme: “One More Run” + “Don’t Fall Off a Cliff”

1. One More Run Energy

  • Sessions ideally under 3–5 minutes.
  • Goal is obvious in the first 10 seconds.
  • Fail → restart should feel instant and satisfying.
  • We want that “okay, just one more…” feeling.

2. Don’t Fall Off a Cliff

Your game must include a clear, risky edge: a pit, ledge, void, or drop where falling means instant failure.

  • Racer – crumbling mountain pass; one bad drift and you’re gone.
  • Platformer – disappearing tiles over a bottomless void.
  • Puzzle – misplace a block and the board collapses.
  • Rhythm – miss beats, slip off a high-wire track.

If “don’t fall off” isn’t obviously part of your core loop, it’s off-theme. No invisible cliffs. 😅

3. Arcade-First Feel

  • Works with joystick + a few buttons.
  • Fun to watch over somebody’s shoulder.
  • Big, readable UI and feedback – built for a screen across the room.

What Kind of Games Belong Here?

Great Fits

  • Platformers and runners
  • Score-attack shooters
  • Rhythm and timing games
  • Action puzzlers
  • Weird experimental arcade-likes

Must-Haves

  • Fast, replayable loop.
  • Easy to grasp by just watching a few seconds.
  • Clear failure state (often: you fell off something).
  • Runs in a window, WebGL, or fullscreen without setup drama.

Not a Fit

  • Clickers / idle games.
  • Pure text adventures or visual novels.
  • Anything that takes 15+ minutes to understand or complete one run.

Building your Game Best Practice

Our game jam participant (TheDollarGameStore) recently turned us on to a great article he wrote on how to best build a game to submit on itch.io for game jams. Recommend you read this follow the instructions and follow him for more good articles in the future. Thanks for writing man!

About Luxodd

Luxodd is an indie-to-arcade platform. We take short-loop PC, console, and mobile games and bring them to connected cabinets with tap-to-play payments, global player profiles, and support for tournaments and events.

If you’ve ever dreamed of walking into a bar and seeing a crowd around your game on a glowing cabinet, not buried in an app store thumbnail, ONE MORE RUN III is where that story can start.
