Some UI elements, especially the timer, could be clearer and more readable, and a bit more visual or audio feedback when taking damage would help. Overall, a well-made entry with good atmosphere.

I like the game overall. The art and music especially. It would be nice to get some visual or audio feedback when you get hit. My least favorite part is the timer, the font doesn't really fit and its not capitalized properly. That's just nitpicking though, the rest is great.

Nice and short little platformer, gameplay is simple, and controls are easy to understand. Shoot through enemies and go to the next room, simple and effective. I am surprised that you've done voiceover, too, which is always a rarity in jams.

Other things I like:

  • Consistence artstyle throughout the game
  • Different environments, though no-one like water levels, it is good to see some variety in the level design
  • Some voice lines are quite funny
  • Ending cutscene. It's always nice to see people implement cutscenes in a jam

Suggestions:

  • Time format is hard to understand. Consider a standard time format like 00:00:00
  • I do not like the final run back at the final section of the game. It's basically walking in a straight line without much to do, and it took around (or at least it felt like) 5 minutes. Which didn't feel like an escape sequence at the slightest. Maybe adding more enemies / changing the level layout so it felt more challanging?
  • Some sprites are difficult to distinguish among other things i.e. the lever. Consider making the sprite more detailed and making it stand out in the environment

Anyway, I think you've done a great job making the game. Keep up the good work!

Thanks for the review! I did see other people say something about the lever and timer. Me and my team agree that we could have done better for that part, but I will rate your's when I can

Wasn’t expecting voice lines, I liked them. Music was well made, although I would’ve liked some variety in the looping thereof. As you’ve stated, controls are easy to understand. Also allowing WASD aside from the arrow keys might be nice next time.

The levels are fine, most jumps are makable, although clearly not all of them are. Some levels/level parts did feel unnecessarily long though, where there were no enemies (at least non that could reach me), no parkour parts, no pickups nor any interactables. In my opinion, those parts could’ve been left out.

Overall, it was fine. Tutorial was a short and sweet. Well done!

Haha loved the hand crafted sound, and it was a cozy playthrough!

Nice interpretation of theme. It would help if the time left was displayed in in a 00:00.00 format that's a little more readable.

Thanks for the review, and yeah, I could have done it like that. I thought this would come off more clearly though
