is a developer-to-developer playtesting event organized by Indie Playtest Fest, not a traditional game jam and not a competition.
The goal is simple:
game developers playtest each other’s games and give structured feedback.
You may submit your game in any stage of development, including very early prototypes, unfinished builds, or experimental concepts.
And your game can be on any format, as example: browser playable, Windows, Commodore 64, or even Nintendo 3DS cartridge if you like.
Just keep in mind that more exotic format your game is, less likely it is to get anyone to playtest it. Browser playable is playable by anyone, but Nintendo 3DS Cartridge would be hard to get and play.
You submit your game to the jam in its current state (and you can freely update it as much as you like; this is not a competition, but a way to get proper feedback for your game in the state it is when someone is playtesting it)
In return, you are required to: playtest and give feedback on at least three (3) other submitted games (You have 1 month to do so)
Feedback is given through itch.io comments, forms, or other methods specified by the developer
The itch.io “voting” system is used only as a tracking tool to ensure that all games receive attention.
This is not a ranking, contest, or popularity vote.
Public playtesting too early can be risky:
Players often give a game only one chance
Very early builds may lack polish, onboarding, or convenience
Public testers may not want to read instructions from separate files or deal with rough edges
Other game developers, however:
Understand early, messy builds
Are more patient with incomplete UX and placeholder content
Can provide higher-quality, more actionable feedback
Know why certain design decisions may exist
This makes the exchange format ideal for early-stage and pre-public playtesting.
While this jam is technically public on itch.io, it is not promoted to a general audience.
The intent is that:
Only developers who actively join the exchange will be playtesting games
Casual players are unlikely to stumble onto these builds
The environment feels closer to internal or peer playtesting than a public demo release
This exchange is a sub-event of Indie Playtest Fest.
Indie Playtest Fest focuses on:
Public playtesting
Wider player feedback
Promotion and visibility for more polished builds
The Playtest & Feedback Exchange Game Jam exists specifically for:
Early development stages
Developer-to-developer feedback
Iteration before public exposure

This is the first time this Playtest & Feedback Exchange Jam is being held, if there seem to be interest to this, this is planned to be held bi-monthly, or even monthly, so games could continuously keep playtesting their builds.
