hey, we had a similar idea for a game in a game!

anyway, thought this was pretty cool, definitely loved the artstyle, and everything looks really polished. my one criticism is probably that the guy is not really that easy to find within the time limit

Cool spin on the genre. I like the notgameboy design.

I loved your concept and the green glow of the screen looked great.

I didn't know that you could move the flashlight with the mouse but once I learned I was able to make progress lol. Also the ghost was a little tricky to find but those are my only points of criticism. Everything else from audio to visuals were awesome. Great job!

Great execution of the format and found the spooky vibe to come across well with the switching mechanic. Personally would of preferred the switch key to be on shift but wasn't bad on tab. Enjoyed how the audio que let the player know when the creature was there and the movement of the creature  asl. Overall great atmosphere/aesthetic and really good work!

Really cool idea! The visuals look great, and the platforming's pretty fun. Finding the ghost was a bit tricky, the camera felt a little too sensitive, and the time was kinda short. Maybe adding some clues to their locations would help. Still, nice work!

Thanks for the feedback! I'm glad you liked it. I definitely have to fix the mouse sensitivity as it has been brought up more than once now lol. There's still plenty we want to do with this idea!

It's a very cool game, I love these arcade games. It reminded me a bit of fnaf. The game is quite difficult, I liked it, we also have hardcore in the game =) I don't quite understand why you need lives if you start the level all over again if you lose, very cool visual style

Wow, i like this graphics! Game on console looks nice, like it's on real gameboy.

Developer

Thank you! I'm glad you liked it :)

Web version gameboy screen is bugged. Will wait to rate until fixed.

Developer

What web browser are you using? It should be working fine from what I can tell.

Submitted

firefox

Developer

Hmm, well it's definitely working in chrome. I'm not sure how nicely Firefox works with WebGL, I believe there's a way to try to enable it inside of firefox?

Cool idea and implementation! Although the sensitivity of the mouse when searching for a monster is very high

Took me a while but I beat the game. The Gameboy style is super cool some of the enemy placements feel unfair due to the small screen but I guess that pretty accurate for real Gameboy games. I wish there were checkpoints in the game section because life's feel pointless without checkpoints. Score also feels useless. There's also a sonic figure in the house which funny considering were playing a notendo these some great details that made me laugh.

Developer

Thanks for playing it all the way through! There are definitely some balancing changes that we didn't have time to address, so I appreciate the feedback :)

For a full game we for sure wanted to introduce more levels and checkpoints and some fun new mechanics.

The game is simple and fun! But the camera speed is a bit fast. It feels like when I was a kid, trying to squeeze in a game while waiting for my mom to come into the room to check on me. Anyway, you can play our team's game.

Really like the art stile and sounds. Also the idea of switching between game consol and 3d room is great!

Submitted(+1)

Great Ambience switch when you press tab. Did not expect a whole room!

Thanks, I'm glad you liked it! Hopefully the back and forth gameplay was fun.

Developer

If you enjoyed the game, don't forget to give it a rating! All of the feedback is very much appreciated :)

I think it's great! I was impressed by the 3D graphics of the game console! (As for suggesting an improvement, I'm stuck at the first scene where the sound of a sandstorm suddenly starts and the game ends, so I'd appreciate it if you included a tutorial on how to deal with that!)

Developer(+1)

Thank you! Yeah I will admit that a tutorial was unfortunately left on the cutting room floor to have this submitted it time. Currently there are only controls listed in the top left of the game as well as a short "Tips" section on the main menu. When you hear the static, you need to press tab to put your game down and shine your flashlight at the shadowy figure until it leaves, then you can go back. Hope that helps :)

good game, im just very bad at 2d platformers

Great concept! I would love to see something like this expanded into a full game sometime, and the polish that's already here is great! Pretty short, but super fun, even though I'm bad at it lol.

I'd really appreciate it if you checked out and rated my entry as well!
