Oh this is adorable! And it’s your first jam? I mean, it’s a somewhat basic concept, but you absolutely NAILED the execution! It’s really polished, and the level design is pretty great for being the first few sections. The only “big” thing I’d comment on is the lack of music, but a lot of games here don’t have any, so it’s not even a problem. I really wanna see where this goes in future!

Lovely character design and SFX and overall nice visuals; controls feel good; mechanics are easy to pick up but are quite fun. Disregarding gravity while switching states is great.

That respawn tutorial was cheeky (and very funny).

I'd love to see more updates.

Fun: great puzzle platforming, the idea of controlling the platforms is amazing, the dialogue is good as well, amazing. One thing is that death takes forever. I made the death fast, just like Celeste, this death is not annoying.

Presentation: really loved the art style, and the sound design was amazing as well. Who made the drawings? reminds me of robot boy from CN 😅, great work

creativity: controlling the platforms is a great idea, and done very well, though it's not perfect for the theme

nice mechanics, they work quite well and the dialogue is pretty funny as well, but the visuals, damn are they good, what an amazing job on the visuals, they are really really good, Congrats

i would also love to hear your thoughts on my game if you have the time

Really fun game, at some point reminded me of cave story. Love the vfx, love the art and also the mechanics, really good job for your first jam!

Developer

Thanks so much! Cave Story is 100% a huge inspiration for me.

Omg the art and VFX are gorgeous , the mechanics are very unique and spot on , it fits the characters as a robot , the dialogue box while the character is animated is a NEAT thing to have

This is such a nice concept and the main mechanic works so smoothly

Though I froze it on the pause screen while trying to press the door button (I usually use esdf and am no longer used to wasd so I may have mashed both w and e?)

Developer

Hmmm. I wasn't able to replicate anything like that. Did you try clicking on the pause menu buttons? I neglected to actually make the pause menu work with keys, so it unfortunately only takes mouse inputs. While I was mashing at the door with w and e, though, I did manage to find a different lock where the player character is stuck in the floating sprite and won't react to inputs, so that's fun.

Nice graphics, nice movement controls, good writing, good humour. The mechanic is interesting as well. My one criticism is that the controls with regards to powering devices was a little awkward, or maybe that is just because I'm on laptop. But I feel like the game could get away with keyboard only controls, and be better for it. But all in all I think this is a very good entry, especially for a first-timer!

Definitely would love to see more! ( I played through this a couple times lol ) So much quality in the gameplay and presentation for being made in such a short time! Great work!

Really cool mechanic! And the art is INCREDIBLE! I really like this!

555! Incredible mechanic! I would love to see this as a full game someday!

MAN jumping over the lazer and snapping my fingers twice to kill all of the enemies felt REALLY GOOD. The art for this is insane, especially considering the fact that this is your first game jam game! Controls look super polished, and the dialogue very well written. Congrats on this amazing first entry, i had a lot of fun figuring out the puzzles!

Incredibly stylish! The art, animations, and general tone of the game all come together beautifully! It could do with some music, but the excellent sound design fills some of that auditory desire. Well designed, and left me wanting more!

nice mechanic, love the visuals! The character is super appealing and the animations are super clean. I feel like gameplay-wise the difficulty spikes a bit too hard at the last level which harmed the experience a bit, and it would be great to be able to speed up the respawn. otherwise great job!

Sorry for not playing this until now but this is actually super fun, would love to play a full game and a bit of music to make the atmosphere.

Amazing work on this! The visuals and primary mechanic of activation really shine through, I can see this easily expanding into more complicated object and activations. There's a lot of polish and quality of life features here that I wouldn't expect in someone's first jam game, from the reset key to quit buttons to a good variety of sound effects. Really wish there was more, looking forward to if you decide to keep developing it!

Thanks so much for the kind words! The sad truth is that I probably only thought about all of those small qol features because I've spent years and years theorizing about what goes into making games and never actually doing it. But that's what this jam is for, right?

Speaking of qol, I appreciate the warning about the length of The Botanist of Blossom Hollow. I would have been in trouble if I'd started on it tonight.

that was a fun play! loved the concept, the art and the worldbuilding with the terms that were used

Wow I wholeheartedly agree with lunastela. This is SO cool! The theme interpretation was the best I've seen so far, the dialogue is amazing and the character and level designs are incredible.

Let me give you one piece of advice Hexafoil, you can still update the game page with info about it, screenshots/gifs and a nice description/theme. This game really needs more attention!

I could absolutely see a creative puzzle platformer like this being developed into a full game.

Great job! One of my favorites so far!

And regarding feedback: sometimes controls can be a bit confusing, yes. And the platforming movement could be improved upon, but it's still pretty good nonetheless. The core idea and implementation is rock solid.

WHY IS NOBODY TALKING ABOUT THIS

SERIOUSLY THIS IS SO COOL ??? I LOVE platformers, the art for this is amazing and the level design was really fun. I really hope this gets turned into a full game although I would say maybe the controls can feel a little unintuitive? I ask you please set up your page so people are more likely to play and download this because it deserves as much attention as some of the top jam games currently
