Super slick first game jam entry! The controls are intuitive, I like how you introduce each mechanic step by step so you don't get overwhelmed, the art is charming and the overall world is beautiful! Amazing platformer :D

Developer

Thanks, I'm happy you liked it 馃榿 your game was fun as well, did you both work on it?

Submitted

We had a team! I did the 3D art and animations :) thank you so much

Wow that was very impressive, especially for a game jam and for a first one at that! I love platformers and this one is no exception to that! I was really impressed with how many mechanics you had and I really like how each level expanded on old ones and then added in new ones also. I had a lot of fun going through the game and collecting the flowers also! Great work!

Developer

Thanks, I'm happy you enjoyed it馃槉 I did make a quick platformer while learning gamemaker so I did get some experience from that. your game was fun as we

OMG! I loved the game. Very well polished mechanics (especially the double jump you get from collecting the "diamonds") and the level design got me stunned!

Developer(+1)

im happy you liked it馃榿 There is actually a dash as well, with its own gem

Submitted(+1)

Really amazing game! I can definitely see/feel the inspiration from Celeste, and in general it feels pretty good! I think the wall jumping was a little hard and there were times where the dash felt a little underwhelming where it was hard

to perform certain things (though this might be muscle memory from playing Celeste). I'm honestly surprised how much content there was for a 10 day jam, a lot of levels that each slowly built on top of each other!

Some things I would've liked to see is a way to preview the level or a little more indicators on where I was meant to go, a lot of the time I felt like I had to blindly dash/jump and I'd get hit by a spike. As well, at least for keyboard players, to be able to mess with the controls because it started to feel a little unnatural having to do WASD and J and Space (the controls themselves aren't bad, I just would like to be able to switch then into something I'm more familiar with)

Overall, really well made game! I very much enjoyed beating through it :D

Developer

I'm happy you liked it馃榿 Celeste is one of my favorite games and I learned a lot from it, I did make a quick platformer while learning GameMaker, so I did get some experience from that. Your game was fun as well

Great game. Thunderstorm was really loud and managed to jump scare me. Impressed with the amount of levels you put into it in such a short time.

Submitted(+1)

It's very cute, fun and just nice to look at!
The art is stunning, and the little details, like the leaves, are very nice.
The sounds are great as well.
The only problem I had was with the wall jumping, but that might just be a skill issue馃槄

Well done for the great work as your first game jam!

Developer(+1)

Thanks, I'm happy you liked it馃榿 The wall jump is a bit difficult, especially on the keyboard.

Submitted(+1)

this is probably the nicest platformer i have played during this game jam, it is really polished and feels good to play. unfortunately i am an idiot and got stuck pretty early on in the game i think lol

Developer

Yeah, you're still at the beginning and haven't even reached the rain 馃槄 try playing it with a controller, it's much easier

Submitted (1 edit) (+1)

This game was absolutely phenomenal and definitely my favorite game from this jam. Your gameplay and level design intuition are so outstanding that it's honestly shocking to me that this is your first jam. PLEASE continue making more games. 5/5/5 perfect score from me

Developer(+1)

I'm so happy you liked it, this totally made my day 馃グ I was mostly inspired by Celeste, I did make a quick platformer while learning GameMaker, so I did get some experience from that, and I'm totally planning to turn this into a full game in the future if god wills 馃榿 your game was great as well, I had a lot fun playing it and it would be a great full game.

Submitted

Thank you, I can definitely see the Celeste inspiration! It also reminded me strongly of Lapin which is one of my favorite platformers, I totally suggest checking it out if you're interested in platformers, especially those with strong narrative. Again I'm totally shocked that this is your first jam, I could go on and on about what your game does well but platformers are notoriously hard to execute well so this is super impressive

Submitted(+1)

This game reminds me of Celeste a bit! The gameplay feels smooth and the introduction of new mechanics is seamless, for only having 10 days to work on this you did great! I hope to see more from you :>

Developer

Thanks, I'm happy you liked it馃槉 Celeste is one of my favorite games, I learned a lot from it, like teaching through level design and making death not annoying. I made a quick platformer while learning ,GameMaker so I did get some experience from that, making movement responsive and the mechanics seamless is the core of platformers, I'm totally planning to turn it into a full game in the future if god wills 馃榿

Submitted(+1)

This was a really nice platformer! I'm amazed how many levels you were able to make in such a short time as well as different mechanics introduced as the game went on. The controls also felt smooth and I liked the challenges for the flowers, it reminded me of the strawberries from Celeste. Good job!

Developer

Thanks, I'm happy you liked it 馃槉 Celeste is one of my favorite games, I was inspired by it, I did make a quick platformer while learning gamemaker, that gave me experiece, the flowers was inspired of the strawberries by celeste as you said, its a nice touch for peaple who like challange, your game was good as well did you both work on it??

Submitted(+1)

Yep, 4 of us actually

Submitted(+1)

Really cool platformer game! The controls did feel smooth! It was the right amount of challenge and the feedback felt really nice. Having limited skills (like the double jump!) is very unique! It made me more careful my decisions before proceeding through the level, like when and where to use it! Cool game!

Developer(+1)

Thanks, I'm happy you liked it馃榿 It was mostly inspired by Celeste, it's one of my favorite games. I did make a quick platformer while learning GameMaker, so I did gain some experience from that. Making the movement feel responsive is the core of a platformers. I'm glad you enjoyed it. Your game was fun as well馃槉

Submitted(+1)

That was a lot of fun. The movement was responsive, the mechanics and the visual feedback from obstacles were super intuitive, aside from one thing. I couldn't get the diagonal dash to work with keyboard controls, so I ended up switching over to a controller, which frankly I should've been using from the beginning. It's crazy how many levels you managed to put together here while still having the platforming challenges be both exciting and reasonably difficult. Had a blast! I finished with eight flowers, though I suspect I missed a few toward the end.

Developer(+1)

Thanks, I'm happy you liked it馃榿 it was mostly inspired by celeste, its one of my favorate games, I did make a quick platformer while learning gamemaker so I did get some experience from that, also play testing with my counins helped a lot, and yeah, platformers in general are way easier with controllers, so I made sure to add controller movement to the game, your game was fun as well, the idea of controling the platforms is amazing.

Submitted(+1)

The controls feel good, that's a well made platformer!

Developer

Thanks, I was inspired by Celeste

Submitted(+1)

Really polished game! Love the art, visual effects and the sound design! The mechanics are creative as well. Jumping, dashing and moving feels responsive and precise. Id say one thing that you can improve on is the background. The foreground is clear but it would be better for the background elements match with the atmosphere. eg having to trees more blue as you get further. Other than that, had a great time with this one.  Impressive for your first game jam submission!

Developer

Thanks, I took the background from itch.io and didn't have the time to edit it.

Submitted(+1)

the mechanics are so good I wish I knew how to like so smooth and u perfected the game juice

Developer(+1)

Thanks 馃榿 I learned most of it from Celeste, making a platformer game, focusing all your work on platforming, then making a fighting or a Metroid Vania with platforming, make the platforming smoother, sense you spent your time learning the mechanics of platforming, we could chat later and help each other 馃槉 I only made platformers I dont know how to make things like attacks

Submitted

I wished I had known my controller and attacking stuff would feel a lot better

Submitted

So I got stuck on an impossible jump where your suppose to dash over some spikes, where you had a A-shaped hill. I walked back to see if maybe the level didn't load right, and I was taken to the end of that level. Rigtht after that, I jump out of the map and end up in an area where you have water jumps. Am I supposed to be able to climb walls while jumping? Also, I'm not sure some of the stuff I'm doing wrong because not even time seemed to help. I wanted to keep going to see the rest of your game, but I'm stumped.

I do love the VFX and the SFX the all look and sound good. There is a bit of lag where when jumping especially when dashing. Other then that the game felt pretty good. The wall jump mechanic was pretty hard to use at first but I eventually got the hang of it.

Developer

im happy you liked it, there was soppost to be a ghost that teach you some of the michanics, but i figured out that its only in my save file not in the game save file馃槶 from what I understand you reached the rain part, if so amazing becuase its the most important part, im happy you liked it, you game had great platforming as well馃榿

this is the ghost 馃檭

Submitted(+1)

Oh Diagonale dashing... I didn't think of that. Yeah.... That would of made things easier..

Developer

your not the first one, a lot didn't know you can dash diagonally because there is no ghost 馃槶

Submitted

I just want to note.... this is where I'm giving up lol I cant seem to do frame perfect wall jumps

Developer

Oh, you're almost at the end of the game. Take your time on the first jump( not a wall jump, just a jump up next to the left wall), make sure you reach as high as you can, then do the wall jumps as fast as possible. I'm gonna try to record a video for you later 馃憤

Submitted(+1)

This is one of my top 5 favorites. I think it would be faster to say what didn't work, which was only one thing; I had some moments where I glitched through some platforms (like the platforms you can go down through and the slime platforms). The celeste inspiration is present but  it doesn't feel like a cheap knockoff, you did something completely your own with the idea. I had an absolute blast with it, I want more of this game! I really hope you expand on this after the jam. Every time I thought it would end there was always just a bit more, which felt so awesome. Amazing work!

Developer(+1)

thanks, im so happy you liked it馃榿馃グ, for the semisolid, I adjusted the, sprite which made it a few pixel in top, which mean if you zoom all the way in, you will see that the semi solid is a few pixels above the ground, which is the reson why the player go through it sense semisoild only work from the top not the sides, I was able to fix it in some rooms but didnt have the time to adjusted it in every room. And I'm totally planning to turn it into a full game. Thanks for the support. 馃槉 Your game was fun as well.

Submitted(+1)

Yoooooo this is so cool! And so many mechanics all into one!  I can definitely see the Celeste inspiration, and I appreciate the auto die feature lol.  (I also did like a bunch of "neutral jumps" throughout lol.   It's like a tech in Celeste where you can climb walls by wall jumping off of them and then moving into the same wall to immediately wall jump again with precise timing, as you slowly move up in height.  It's probably not intentional but I had fun with the levels regardless lol)  I'm also very impressed considering this is your first jam too!  Very well polished!  Well done! o(^o^)o

Developer

Thanks, celeste is one of my favorate games, I learned alot from it like making death not annoying and theaching the player through the level design, also I made a quick platformer while learning gamemaker, that gave me some experience, there are bugs that I didnt have times to fix like you said, which why I kept the auto kill which I was using while making the levels for debuging,  I can fix the wall jump things but I thinking about keeping it for now, I have my cousins and friends who playtests, they helped alot, im gonna playtest a little to see if I should keep it or not, thank you for the feed back馃榿, you game was fun as well, it had smooth platforming

Submitted (1 edit)

Hello there , i see a lot , and i mean A Lot of similarities between our game , i see you also went for a more celeste style , the movement are suprisingly smooth , and the mechanics are also nice. It seems that you concentrate more on the mechanics and i went more on the ambience of the game. Cant wait for you to try mine

Developer

Yeah, Celeste is one of my favorite games. I see you went for a mix of Celeste and jump king, neat idea. Maybe we can support each other after the jam finishes
