Great setting set-up. Good ticking clock with the red beacon as well.

I'm not clear on how the merfolk can still move about, given that other aquatic creatures are beached at this point. Do these change to having two legs and breathing air when necessary?

Untrustworthy talking sea serpents, telepathic starfish, ghostly horses, squids that grow two tentacles for each one that's lopped off, this has amazing Appendix N vibes.

That came up during my playtest. I was planning on addressing it but layout went down to the submission wire and I forgot all about it. The merfolk did have fish bodies but were galumphing around like seals on land. And yeah, my assumption was that merfolk could breath both on land and underwater.  Once the ratings period is over I'd like to go back over it and clarify or fix a couple things like this.

I think a lot of us have a lot of fixes we want to publish after the ratings close. ;)
