Malware verification Date: 21/09/2025
Artifact: Familiars V0.3.exe 93 MB 21 September 2025 @ 06:15 UTC
Result: Passed

Test: Virus Total Result: Passed with a 'Suspicious' likely false flag Link: Report

Test: Microsoft Defender Result: Literally would not let me download this, claiming ransomware.

Test: Malware Anti-malware Bytes Result: Passed

Network Activity: Non-detected.

Note: Passed scans.
Why the pass? This is Godot. I have run this and found nothing wrong with it and it looks very customised to this game jam which mass posted viruses tend not to be. However it is just an exe, the package (the game assets) are therefore all packaged within the exe. This creates a red flag for windows anti-virus. If you want this to not throw up an error, pay Microsoft to sign the exe, use steam or actual advice do not package the game assets in one file. See the warning on this page under code signing: https://docs.godotengine.org/en/stable/tutorials/export/exporting_for_windows.ht...

TLDR: I do not think this is a virus, I think this is Godot allowing an option it should not for windows export.

Final note: This verification is not a guarantee this application is safe, it is purely surface level check to add to your own verifications.
