Look I am not on patreon, but people pay knowing they get early version, otherwise you wait and it is free. Plus, people pay so the person can focus or can survive working on it. Plus I seen many projects be silent for awhile, so this is the norm. I always check in every 6 months or a year, play the new updates, and then disappear. 

Like trust me, this is very much a norm.

What is norm

that's not a good thing, something being the norm should not make it acceptable, specially when people are paying, the dev should at least give public sign of life(discord doesn't count) so people know the game is still being work on.
