Hello! So I'm playing on my MacBook Pro & I am able to get to the room with the flashlight in it but I can't figure out how to pick it up since the bedroom door is in the way.

Yes, if you’re aiming directly at the flashlight when pressing E or Left Mouse and nothing happens, there must be some Mac compatibility issue. My immediate thought was that it could be related to key bindings, but it seems strange that neither the mouse nor keyboard input would work…
Unfortunately I don’t have access to a Mac to test on, but I’ll have a think/Google and reply here if I come up with anything
