Putting my final thoughts here after playing the Patreon version since this was the place where I first saw this game.
It's a 5/10, a middling game, in it's current version state. Dev seems responsive to feedback, which is nice.

"ERICA, Knight of the Sun" has a fairly simple combat system; Z to attack, C to dodge in the direction you're looking at. Jump isn't useful in combat, but works well enough outside of it.

Bosses don't really work, which is something I've seen others say before. They just launch attacks and don't really let you know when they're coming; no flashes, no animation freeze for a fraction of a second, just launches an attack. Since the only way to avoid is to dodge and dodge has lag, you get hit a lot during bosses.

In-game economy is shambles; you need a TON of money ("Essence") to move forward in the game. Seemingly after hitting the second town, it doesn't matter anymore; there is no shop anywhere, so money becomes useless.

I like the music, animations and overall feel. The h-animations are great pixel stuff with occasional larger more detailed pixel images. Shame that to get those h-scenes you gotta lose in some way; archaic system that never worked. Hopefully it gets scrapped completely here and it just becomes "Defeat an new enemy, unlock the animation set immediately" kinda deal.

Personally I did not have a problem with bosses. The first one is simple, she attacks after certain amount of time. Usually after 2-3 hits, then dogde.

The second boss is more interesting as he fixes the issues you mention and there is 1 more attack for you (down + Z)

but yeah, shame that many devs do the: lose to unlock gallery... thats why a really like princess reconquista or kunoichi sekiren

and the economy... to get the 1. 3000 essence is so easy. pickup few mushrooms, grapes, sell and you can have 3000 in no time

in 1.6 the town offers you more items and you will need the heals for the 2nd boss. If you dont get mad and just rush him as fast as possible which can last merely a minute

The second town might offer you more items if there was someone who sold potions. As it stands, there is no one like that in any of the houses I entered.
