I have no idea why I keep calling Nathaniel Sebastian but alls well that ends well. Remember that you’re entitled to your own opinion about the characters, as am I. TBH, I don’t even dislike Simon THAT much. He just is my least favorite
I do know that all LIs are toxic to some extent with MC since they are monsters after all.
HOWEVER Simon seems much less toxic to me than Isaac. Because if you exclude the experiment mini-event, of course, we do have some free will and freedom of choice in his route, compared to Isaac where you're held captive in the castle against your wishes and treated badly every time you express your wish to leave or to be treated like a human being. Simon is also much more nicer to MC and not prone to unpredictable mood swings.
I do agree that drugging and experimenting on MC without prior consent makes him a dangerous and untrustworthy person and I don't condone what he did at all, just to be clear. I even picked all the power oriented choices because the whole ordeal made me feel uneasy and upset. However I do understand his motivations for treating MC like so, unlike Isaac who's just...toxic for the sake of it, without a real purpose for it. (Also, experimenting on carriers would be pointless since they do not carry the Resilere Allele, the gene the Institute's been trying to replicate for centuries.)
Hence why I was surprised to see Simon ranked last in your post. I wasnt trying to convince you nor implying that you were wrong since this is not "you're right/wrong" situation. I don't dislike Isaac either, let's just say that I'm not as emotionally invested in his route as I am with Simon.
I'm also a fan of body horror and a science nerd who works in the medical field so picking Simon over Isaac is a given. xD
Agreed. Maybe if I had gotten Simon’s route first, I would be more of a fan of him. About the power options part, I avoid those b/c I would like to optimize empathy and logic ^^
To be honest, I think we need to see more of these two first. (also I uhm… in my play through, I never really wanted to be treated humanely nor did express a wish to leave so I probably got the better experience)
I STILL need to defend Pookie Issac though even though I mostly agree with you. Issac doesnt really do the abusing, it’s Nathaniel (Sebastian) doing most of the mistreatment. And, this is a horrible argument tbh, but we could be treated a LOT worse by Issac. I’m pretty sure that he doesn’t only take care of the MC because it’s his duty, but because he NEEDS us for some reason. If that’s all, we just be locked up in a room while occasionally being fed blood. Issac is a bit benevolent in letting us explore and wander about.
Also, can you give some examples of Issac mistreating the MC besides the dinner? It’s not that I don’t believe you, but I literally never triggered him, so when you mention his mistreatment, I have no idea what you’re talking about and I can’t argue against something if I don’t know what happened😭😭😭
I could care less about Nathaniel tbh. I put him in the same bag as his master. Hence why I fled the castle as soon as I got the option. xD

> Of course! But first you need to know that when I say "mistreats", I don't mean it as "physically hitting MC" but in the broader sense of the word: "to treat (a person or animal) badly, cruelly, or unfairly."
As I said before, he's holding MC captive (a golden cage is still a cage even if you're allowed to roam in it), he touches them without prior consent in the dungeon, takes off his mood swings on MC, and straight up assumes that you're the Hunter's accomplice (you need to pass a skill check to even get the chance to EXPLAIN yourself which is WILD to me since the guy is supposed to protect your ashes/you but oh well...)
During the dinner, if you bring up your good memories of the farm he even mentions wanting to cut you open to crawl inside of you and honestly that was a huge dealbreaker for me, to the point where I only did his route for the sake of completing the existing chapters of everyone and nothing more. ^^'
But it's great that you still like the character despite all his flaws, it proves that the game is really well written. 🖤
“During the dinner, if you bring up your good memories of the farm he even mentions wanting to cut you open to crawl inside of you…” He WHAT?! Okay I’m a little scared now… I never considered myself a person to be blinded by good looks but tbh I think his DAZZLING face blinded me to those red flags😖😖😖
Uh yeah that’s not very nice of Issac😞 I have no defense for him, so uhm

Low-key this is going to come out of nowhere, and is SO random, but I feel like it only makes sense on this site
So tell me why, IRL, I am a bisexual woman with short hair that prefers anything feminine. Tomboys, normal girls, pretty girls, femboys, pretty boys, truthfully anything with long eyelashes counts. I prefer comfortable clothing and I ADORE sweaters, another thing to note is that I rarely ever wear skirts.
But when I play an IF I choose to be a gay (who also is attracted to those who are non-binary) man with hair so long it could rival rapunzel who loves wearing dresses and skirts and all the like. There isn’t much of a difference in personality besides the fact that I play as a less outgoing character in these games.
Like, I don’t want to be a man nor do I feel like one. If reincarnation exists, however, I would prefer to be a man to see what it’s like. I’m also a Fujoishi but I honestly find it so funny that in an IF I play as a character thats completely different to myself.
It’s also partly because I think I would have heart palpitations if I saw my name in an IF— even if I was the one who chose it😭 Although I don’t use they/them pronouns, there being no they/them option surprised me! Honestly, I feel like we might get a chance to select our pronouns REALLY late in game since, besides Sebastian (Nathanial) calling you “Sir”, the MC doesnt really get referred to by pronouns.
Hmmm, good point. I don't recall seeing our pronouns used in Simon's route either, and Anthony constantly refers to us in an objectifying way ("something", "a treasure", "some spoils"...etc) Probably as a way to make the whole interaction unsettling and to emphasize that MC is barely considered a human being in Simon's route. 🤔
