Given that this is still an early prototype, I'll just do some quick comments on the mechanics instead. I actually quite like the first prototype. It felt nice to play, and I had some fun trying to shoot every target. Not successful on that, though. Maybe with some balancing, this would work nicely as a puzzle shooter. I am slightly not enjoying the second one as it currently stands, solely because the maze is too tight to navigate with the controls. But I think it would work with a much more relaxed layout with some enemy action going on.

Things I like:

  • Very innovative game mechanics. Would be nice to see these getting to a proper game
  • Controls only with the mouse. It makes the game feel unique in the same genre
  • Moving animation (?) looks really cool in the first game

Suggestions (first game):

  • Slower and fewer enemies. This should allow the player focus less on shooting and more on placement
  • Some clearer indicator of what colour the player is currently standing on. This should make the controls snappier

Suggestions (second game):

  • Move room to navigate as mentioned above
  • Maybe not also triggering movement with left click? This makes it a little bit confusing to play

Anyway, keep up the good work, and hope you are able to catch a break. Take care!

Thanks for taking the time to comment, and suggest.  I really didn't expect anyone to comment.  I barely put any time into this one given my recent schedule and the short time-period.  I'm trying your game now -- Please feel free to try my previous Jam though, I put much more time into that one: https://itch.io/jam/alchemy-jam-7/rate/4154591
