Hi! If you've already played minecraft with friends through Hamachi, Zerotier or a similar service then I guess the same approach should work. But if you haven't , not really, sorry...
The problem is that to connect to a friend over the internet you have to have an intermediate server to transmit the data. For a steam game, steam provides developers such a server. Same for Epic, but I haven't heard of anything like that for itch. And I don't really have the knowledge to set up one myself right now.
