I have a couple of observations, not sure if they're intended or you plan to fix them.

First of all, every time you unlock a new girl, the price of new scenes for all the other girls also spike up, making it not worth to unlock more characters until you've exhausted all scenes of the existing ones. When you unlock new scenes for any character, all new scenes for all other characters also go up in price. I guess the code for calculating these things is simpler to make it work more smoothly, although it does look kind of weird for those of us used to clicker games.

And secondly, once you unlock a "next scene", the previous one gets replaced, obviously. But we don't have any way of going back, or see a gallery of all scenes unlocked, until all the scenes of the character are unlocked. It seems like a weird mechanic to not allow you to go back to things you already "bought" until you exhaust the "shelf".

Edit: I had to rephrase my observations, based on new knowledge

I'm going to be honest, the game still feels very much incomplete, even if you add a new attraction. Having all the girls work in all the buildings could be a reason, but I think the bigger cause is the lack of content in general.

WTE comes across as a sandbox, rather than a management game. Resources are mostly overflowing to the point you barely notice they are even there, and there's no way of spending them that feels meaningful.

Of the girls, only Hana has a friend you can visit or have visit you during day or night both, while Kaisa has a night exclusive "have the friends visit you" kind of event. Iono, Tifa and Peach don't have even half of that.

Most of the outfits and events for Lily are unlocked at the beginning of the game, which is to say there are few, and she barely gains any new ones as the game progresses. Since she doesn't work on any of the attractions, she just stands there menacingly, which feels wrong.

There is little to do while passing the time to progress the girls' corruption meters. Gameplay loop right now is just "Put the girl to work, watch the new scenes, lock her position, spam the buttons to pass the time and accepting until she reaches a new threshold, unlock, watch the new events, put the girl to work, rinse and repeat from the beginning." There's no engagement from the player, it's like a visual novel with extra unnecessary steps. The greatest offender is the massage parlor, it had a decent amount of different points of interaction with Peach, but when added the next two they had less and less different ways of increasing the meter, with Tifa having only two... The player just repeats the same dialogue over 6 times before the final prompts and end of the "interaction".

The dates are also very specific. You can only have them with certain characters in certain localization, and there's little to no change if you invite them one by one than if you just invite both and watch all the possible outcomes there.

And all of this is just based on the voids that need filling within the existing game, which illustrates the severe decline in content quantity AND quality (gameplay-wise) as production of the game progressed. We haven't even talked about the promises to bring more and different girls, since these 5 we have now would be "the main ones". WTE promised to be an ambitious project, where the player would be able to fulfill their fantasies with many different characters from mainstream media. And that promise is also being broken right now with this announcement.

The worst part? Is that it feels bad precisely because we had expectations. The art is amazing and we want more! The girls are written in a way that makes them likeable, and we want more! More time with them, more content with them, but also more and different girls! At the very least, some events with other girls from the same franchises as the main ones. Sombra, Widowmaker, Miss Fortune, Yuffie, the other girl from A.V.A.L.A.C.H.E. whose name I forgot, Daisy, Rosalie, maybe even Nurse Joy? Those are some quick examples I can come up with from the top of my head of characters that would fit into the story and world of WTE.

There is PLETHORA of things that could be added to the game, so ending things in only 4 updates... We're going to miss on a lot of those, I feel. Which is why to me the game still feels incomplete: it's not that we haven't added 100% of what could be possible, it's that we haven't even finished adding half of what should be expected.

Don't get me wrong, I agree that the sum is high for a game like this, and that is why I'm asking for poof that the money is being spent responsibly. Voice actors could be a thing, commissioning a full OST too, upgrade materials for systems, or hiring a small team to help with translations, coding, 3d rendering, etc. I'm not saying that these are a must, but that they're the usual money drainers in big game project developing. Not counting living expenses.

I don't have near enough experience with economics to dare calculate approximate expenses up to date, how much money should be left, and how many months this dev should still be able to sustain themselves without further income. What I do know, is that Patreon is a voluntary thing. Anyone thinking that they've invested enough, or that the de should be good to go for a while without further investment, can cancel their plan at any time without consequences. And as far as I know, more and more people are reaching that level. Even if the dev doesn't turn it off, they're going to reach the point of having no backers left.

Which is why I said they have two choices now, either wait it out until that point, or take action. And to take action would mean to prove that the money up to date has been responsibly used, and showing us some results of where has it been invested into. Of course, even if he doesn't, and things continue as-is, people will get mad and sue, starting an investigation. Patreon follows the same principle as Kickstarter, so usually they don't meddle, but if it can be proven that the creator is essentially scamming the patrons, they should take matters into their own hands. At that point, there's nothing else we could do but wait for a sentence. But until then, there's still time left to release a build that makes a statement. And based on that, people can decide to drop their patronage or back it up further.

If we take solo indie devs as examples, both Undertale and Omori took a bunch of years to finish. They had way less budget to work with, but with the inflation things are also more expensive now than then. Am I expecting that HHG becomes something of that caliber? No, of course not. But I'm illustrating the key difference that those had a one-time income via Kickstarter, so they didn't had the need to keep releasing devlogs to keep investors engaged, and they still had to face some criticism by the later years before releasing the final product. HHG is backed via monthly income, so at the bare minimum there's the need for reporting regularly what's being done. Apparently they're using Discord for that, so you can go there and take a look yourself. But still, it's not enough anymore to serve as proof of concept, *that's* what I've been trying to say, what I would like for you to take away from my musings. I'm agreeing with you on that front.

I half disagree with Platinum here, because I understand both sides of this story.

Making a game, a good game at that, takes time and effort. And bills need to be paid in the meantime. The longer it takes, the more money is needed.

However, the people that is giving that money also have expectations. They expect results. They expect that the money is being fairly used, and not taken advantage of.

Turning off completely revenue sources isn't a show of anything but suicide, which in turn would mean having to halt the game production completely. However, if something isn't done soon, supporters will leave and the result will be the same, if not worse because it could lead to legal actions being taken to investigate that you haven't been scamming people.

You need to make a choice. Reach a compromise, release some form of content that proves your work so far, appease the masses and continue development slowly but surely, playing for the long run. Or risk it all by waiting until the last moment.

What matters to you is that the end result is of the highest quality possible. You don't need to reach it in one go. You CAN improve over time, and polish the product little by little. That's the point I was trying to make earlier. That by passing so much time trying to be a perfectionist, you're only making things worse for yourself.

And mind you, I'm not even that interested in the unfinished product. I wouldn't play it, I don't have the time. But I'm worried that this project will fail altogether if something isn't done soon to beat the allegations of scam. The currently available build is no longer enough for most people. It's obsolete. And if what you said is true, it's not a trustworthy example of how the final game will be like, since you've been improving it so much... Right?

It's time to prove it.

I'm gonna be completely honest here, manIf you don't have prior experience, aiming to create "the best" is just stupid and arrogant.

There are some colossal contenders out there with which you're trying to compete. Games made by one single dev as well, not to mention those made by teams of experienced people. And there's also to take into account the fact that adult games are just games with adult content. That means that there's A LOT of different genres and different factors to consider when talking about "the best".

Now, I can understand trying to do "your best". And some great indie games did take several years in the making, despite the protests. But using that as a reference to shield yourself, that's inexcusable. Just because others did it doesn't mean that if you do it you'll achieve the same result. How are you going to respond if your endgame product doesn't meet your astronomical expectations? How much would that deflate your ego? Would you fall into despair? If so, that's a big risk to take for such an unpredictable outcome.

My sincere advice is to lower your expectations. Don't stop chasing your dream, but start by setting realistic goals. And aspiring to create "the best" from the get-go isn't realistic at all. It's a huge mistake. And you know, you should aim to learn through making mistakes, but better to make multiple small mistakes that can be corrected later, than one huge fuck up from which there's no return.

Silly question, but does rejecting any intimate scene like Lilian's still add them to the gallery? Or is it like a story-path choice where it could have long term consequences?

I ask because sometimes I won't be able to watch the scene in the moment (say, if I want to play in public, or if I were interested in streaming/recording a gameplay) but I'd like to check it out later in private. I can make a save of course, just wanted to know if it was still necessary to do so.

It's only for engine upgrade and full languages localization

Wait, what do you mean "edited dialogues and scenes to match platforms terms of service"? I don't seem to remember any content in this game that included incest or ambiguous aged characters. What did you change that was risqué enough to threaten ToS?

Is there any place where we can suggest words to take into consideration? I just tried two different words with a similar intent that did nothing, then the third one gave me the result I expected for the first two. Would be nice if us players can help grow the game by suggesting synonyms or similary associated concepts that are already in the game.

Is this game finished? Or even in development anymore?

Did you also leave a simmilar comment when Team Cherry released Silksong after 7 years of radio silence?

Is the free version only SFW? I tried downloading it on PC for trying purposes, but it seemed like any attempt at doing something lewd would be met with a "maybe at another time" message or something like that.

Can't play this. I download on PC using the Itch app and every time I try to open, it crashes and opens traceback log.

The launcher says there's a JSON conflict or something. I have Java updated. What the hell is wrong with this update? I was able to play earlier version long ago.

I remember playing this back in the day when Noriko's routes were released for free, and feel disappointed in the seemingly lack of proper ending to the maledom route. Literally felt anticlimactic as the final sex scene is playing and it just ends abruptly without any sort of climax CG or even text. Compared to the other girls' sex scenes at the time, it felt incomplete. Has that been fixed already? I might pick the game back if it has.

I heard somewhere that Steam is considering passing a stricter ToS against games with +18 external patches. I hope this doesn't come to be, but lately I've hoped for many things that unfortunately have happened anyway.

Which is why I get a little apprehensive when I see creators, specially smaller ones, fold under this oppression and censorship. IMO we should be fighting more to keep our freedom, both of speech/creation and consumption, rather than accepting things like these as they come and try to mold around them. And I get it, I get the "but what can someone alone do for a change?" feeling. It's safer to adapt than to stand one's ground. Still doesn't mean it feels less shitty that the power/control-hungry corps are getting the win, you know?

I'm not gonna lie, the whole reason I got interested in the game in the first place was the NSFW approach. The premise offered something new and original in the market of +18 games. Seeing that part go would heavily drop my interest, and I'm guessing some others as well.

When buying something, the consumer asks himself: where would I get the best experience for my particular interest with this amount of money? Games follow the same logic, as does porn. It sells, and the proof is all the unrest that stems from all this BS censorship happening lately.

Now, what kind of experience offers the game in a SFW environment? Dating sim/management you say. The former genre already oversaturated, and the latter not exactly popular. Adding the +18 content wouldn't make things much different usually, but the premise of the game being "monster creatures" adds a little spice that makes the whole combo of genres unique in itself. Remove one of the parts, and the rest will struggle to hold on, I think.

So what I'm trying to say is, if you envision this project from a selling standpoint, I believe you're considering the wrong approach. And if you wanted to make a game because you're passionate about it and the ideas that drove you to do it, then you shouldn't sacrifice any of those ideas.

My suggestion would be to keep the game as is, then offering a free "Demo" (like up to a certain update patch, or a certain story point, maybe have it be just a full loop of the first monster) on Itch, like a lot of other creators are doing. And using that to promote your Patreon where you would sell the full updated version with everything included.

Win win for all.

The art is made with AI. This should have the appropriate tags and disclaimer

Thank you. At least someone here has a basic reading comprehension and common sense, instead of displaying the same mentality of someone that walked in a McDonalds and complained that the salads suck because they shouldn't be in a burger shop. It's not so hard to realize that maybe if you like burgers you should just stick to the burgers, and let people that like salads have their salads in peace. And yet, somehow, the OP failed TWICE to understand this very simple point LOL

Well, I understand where this is coming from, but it is a little disappointing, yet not for the reasons you may think. Let me try to explain.

An AVN is defined by two things mainly. The +18 and the story. Good AVNs have a good balance of both, it's not about shifting from one to the other. Sex is a natural part of our lives, sexuality shouldn't be avoided or treated as taboo, we shouldn't feel ashamed for it. Romance feels more realistic when there's a healthy sexual aspect of communication between the partners after all.

So it's disappointing that you decided to completely shirk away from writing erotica just because you didn't want to be considered "smut". It may look like they're the same, but the context and understanding of the work is very different. You could very well aspire to write something like 50 SOG, or become a novelist like Nora Roberts who often included one or a couple of sex scenes in her books, yet they never got called "smut reading" because that wasn't the focus. It was always complementary. They help normalize sex and sexuality, so hearing you're following the opposite path is disheartening, because you're falling prey of the same fallacy that's causing so much harm to the AVN industry lately.

Still, if this is what you really want to do, I wish you luck. I don't think I'll be reading your book, since I prefer interactive stories (hence why I'm interested in VNs to begin with), but I really hope you achieve your dreams. Godspeed

Then just don't do them. Games are not made to cater only to your fetishes my man, but a broader audience

Damn I forgot about that! Thank you for the reminder ^^

Took my time but I finally played this update, and boy oh boy, I think we reached PEAK WRITING. The H scenes with Gloria are some of the best ones along with Violet's, I really REALLY enjoy reading that their relationship with MC is vastly different than how he "feeds" from mind controlled dolls. I know it sounds weird being an H game where we're essentially playing as the demon of Lust, but the vanilla romantic scenes really stand out the best here. THAT'S CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT BABYYY WOOOO--

That being said, the quest itself is also amazingly written. I didn't get at first who "Anne" or "Alexandra" were, I just thought they were random NPCs like the townspeople from MCs flashbacks. But when I finally realized later, I had to reload a save to re-read the scenes again with the new perspective. And that got me thinking about how much detail actually goes into this story, it's amazing. It's always been good, but when it comes to the world building aspects of the group it just reaches another level. I'm constantly wondering about their past experiences, relationships, unique abilities, quirkiness, and every time the story delivers answers to exactly that... I end up gushing more than with the H scenes themselves NGL.

This particular update has gotten me thinking now about their names. Like, they seem to follow a certain convention or patterns. Always using the same first letter, could that be because of their original names? (since I think it's implied they weren't always like this, they were humans at one point before). But Hikari goes against that, it doesn't start with A not even in the translated form. Also she's the only one with a Japanese kind of name, huh? And what about "Gramps"? Are we ever going to know his actual name? Does he even have one or has he disregarded the notion completely for some reason? And why were Gloria and MC the only ones in the flashback that didn't change their names? Or was it that they were the first ones to do it before the others? SO MANY QUESTIONS! And I love it!

Anyway, sorry for the rant. I just wanted to point out some of the things I've been feeling since I started following this game long ago. Thank you very much for sharing it for free, and f*ck those bank bastards that try to censor masterpieces likes this one.

PD: there seems to be a bug in which, after choosing any option with Gloria wearing her uniform, after the scene ends it changes immediately to her in underwear. Have to change back to her uniform manually every time, which is a little annoying.

Unfortunately, that is one of the reasons that the anime community gets so much shit from non-fans. In the eyes of others that can't appreciate an art's medium, all otakus are predators and degenerates in disguise, while blatantly ignoring the actual criminals that are in plain sight.

Dude, it's nice that you're committed, but don't die in the process! I'm speaking from experience here, you think you're doing good by trying to keep up with expectations, but that's not healthy and it impacts the efficiency of anything you do. With regular rest, you'd probably have finished by tomorrow, just a day or two later, and with much better quality from the get-go. And most important of all, it'd ensure you keep being motivated about this passion project (and anything else, really). Overloading your brain by skipping rest will lead up to burn out, demotivation, feeling drained and weak, in the worst case you can develop or aggravate a depression. So you better take care of yourself, you hear me? Besides, people don't mind waiting times as much as radio silence. You could spend years working to release a full game and it'd be cool for the silent minority (there's always detractors), but what the gaming community loves from a Dev is to keep being communicated news and progresses, even if they're mostly irrelevant or if it's just to say "this was a bad week/month, stuff happened IRL and release will be delayed".

TL;DR: fix your sleep schedule, don't stress so much about waiting, keep comms open. You'll have smooth sailing from there.

What the... Why do I see so many donwvotes in the comments? Nobody said anything rude or wrong, and the update looks pretty hype. Can't wait for the free release!

More info is always better than less info

Woohoo for more Rpg gameplay! Story content, character development and lewd events are always nice, but I've been craving some more of this that separates a visual novel from a proper game, at least a little bit

It's amazing how far this game has come since the first release. I remember having high expectations after Raven's Quest was finished, and feeling a little disappointed in the short amount of content in comparison, but seeing the pacing of updates I had faith it would grow not only in quantity but also in quality.

Now we're here, at the REAL starting line, and there's no doubt in my mind that if you keep up the effort and passion put into each update, WTE will end up being even more amazing than it's predecessor(s).

BTW I just noticed that all of the girls so far have been sourced from videogames, was there ever the thought of including someone from anime/manga?

Goddamn, the Archive.rpa got twice as big compared to last time. Took me 6 hours to download since Mega puts a hard limit on files bigger than 5GB...

I can see the potential and inspirations for this game. Unfortunately I tried to play the browser version on Android and got stuck in the "History" menu. I also noticed there are a couple of text errors, for example I gave a custom name to the ex-GF but the game semi-crashed into the store page, and after I restored it the Narrator called her by her original name anyways.

Obviously these are somewhat expected happenings for a solo project that just released, with polish it could become a great demo.

It's a shame you had to go through such a crisis. I know you said it's all over now, but I just wanted to tell you that, whatever you may think about your life choices, your making an excellent job with this game. I believe that in time this could become one of the top games in the H category of this platform. Just the gameplay alone is already worth it, but the story and character interactions also are organic and well developed. The H events are the cherry on top. Don't get discouraged, having and fixing bugs is a normal part of developing any game, as is having to take unexpected breaks in order to deal with other stuff.

It may take some time, but some of them do finish. Look up "Once Upon a Time", for example. It's a great game as well btw

I had hoped that this update fixed it, but it seems the game still has an issue on Android version, where a lot of texts go on beyond the screen limits or overlap one another (for example, in the quest log). Some icons (like inside the inventory) also seem a little displaced. My guess is that this is caused by the difference in resolution or aspect ratio between PC and Mobile, and the game assets not being designed for the latter.

(1 edit)

Having gameplay before you reach the lewd content is what separates games from just a picture gallery search, I think it's important to keep at least some semblance of puzzles in the game. That being said, I'd much prefer the "one turn to checkmate" ones over the "two turns" ones, because the first is fun and accessible for everyone but the second requires either annoying trial and error or a more chess-savvy orientation.

Also, the sandbox is cool and I'd love to see more content, but it does feel a bit grindy having to check every single room at every single time of every single day just to check if there's anything different. Perhaps adding something like a character map, or an event list with hints, or something to better and easily know if there's anything new to do at all in that specific weekday, would alleviate the experience and make it more streamlined like some of the pure sandbox games out there.

I really like HSDXD and I think this game has potential to be the best lewd tribute to it, so I'm really rooting for you. Keep doing mostly what you've been doing so far and it's going to be great.

Of course! Here's a screenshot of Darkness' items and stats. I deduce it has to be something about her since the other characters could be attacked no problem

Welp, finally got some downtime available to check out the update, and it was going mostly well but I encountered a Game-breaking bug, not sure what exactly is causing it. What I did was the following:

After trying out the new bandits event at night in the alleys, I wanted to test more combat with a full party, so I went to the Brigand Camp since I had a couple of quests there anyway. My team is the basic MC+Aqua+Darkness+Megumin, everyone using the alternate skins (The blue one for Darkness, this might be relevant). Seems like it's going all well and dandy until I use Bolster Ranks with Darkness and the enemies attack. An array of seemingly infinite exception errors then ensue (ignore button doesn't help and rollback just sends me back to the map selection), apparently the engine unable to find some assets for what I can only guess is some special effect or something.

Darkness is equipped with the Thorns armor, Bolster Ranks is using the self-marking ability, resistance to de buffs and the Riposte buff. I have confirmed that other characters can be safely attacked without errors, but when Darkness is marked she taunts, and when she receives the next attack my guess is that the game doesn't expect her to apply Thorns and Riposte at the same time that she's Marked, or the issue might lie on the attack from a bandit causing a special debuff that doesn't mesh well with the buffs previously applied.

I'd like to spend some time testing further for a more accurate assessment, but unfortunately I don't have the time for such luxury right now, so I wanted to report what I found so far. I'm playing on the latest free version on Android by the way. If you tell me how to do it, I could reproduce the bug and send you the error log, although as I said there are seemingly infinite of them, as when I keep pressing "ignore", new ones keep replacing it (actually, it seems to be the same log but varying some numbers which I guess are code addresses)

Makes sense then. For normal enemies, usually a well built character will kill them with a few hits anyway, so it's easy to see why 30% might seem not appreciable enough.

I do see as well your concern over the cheesing. I saw you added a lot of new status effects that might tip the balance in the player's favor, although I assumed they'd count as "debuffs" and thus rendered useless by the bosses' resistance anyway. What I fear is that boss fights could get reduced to just a matter of having big damage numbers (and some way of surviving/reviving, which we get a lot of in this update as well), instead of a tactical puzzle of figuring out combinations of buffs and debuffs. I also fear that builds centered around DoTs would be discouraged, which I think would be a wasted opportunity to diversify the game's experience for players.

At the end of the day though, I also understand that the focus of this game isn't solely the combat system, and even without that feature it'd still be very great. Taking time to "perfectly" balance the game would be in detriment of further developing new content and polishing the existing one, specially for a single dev such as you. I don't wish my ideas and feedback to add pressure for anyone, specially when I still haven't even played the version myself, I'm just speaking out of the experience of having played a lot of games myself, which might prove to make for an insufficient insight. Thank you for taking your time to read me nonetheless, I feel quite passionate about your game and wish it nothing but success.

Aqua is now useful? This game is no longer canon friendly /j

Jokes aside, I'm very excited by the upgrade. Not only a lot of new content for the story, but also tons of updates for the combat system, which is one major attraction for this game.

That being said, even without testing I can already tell, 50% hp execution is way too high. Usually in other games the threshold is 30 or 20%, otherwise it's too strong against bosses and minibosses.

But also, I fear that giving resistance for bosses against debuffs and DoTs will make their battles harder and at the same time, simpler. The combat is enjoyable precisely because it requires some strategy, and removing tools from the formula makes the strategies available be more straightforward. I do understand however that some strategies may be too effective as well, causing the exact same problem of being used repeatedly regardless of the situation, and that's hard to balance. I'll be able to tell better how this change affects the enjoyment of boss battles when it comes out to the public, for now I hope it's not full immunity for all bosses, and instead just that some bosses have different resistances to different de buffs.

The reason is very simple actually. Patreon doesn't allow for creators to develop games with incest in them, so they have to hide it. I'm not sure if Steam also has issues with that, but usually the situation is that a Dev can only rely on Patreon or Subscribestar (or similars) for stable income so they need to go out of their way to comply with their unreasonable requests
