I think you're mistaking a fan game with a complete copy. A fan game, while yes, using the same models, often has completely different gameplay or something new to work towards. This is not a 'fan game' its a direct copy.

It would be legal if it were a similar game with different models, this being a straight IP rip, is in fact NOT legal. This person is quite lucky the dev(s) of PvZ havent caught on and sued, as is their right

ah yes copywrite infringement is totally fine if its free, good message. *shrugs* oh well.

aaaand its not their IP, is it? idk how people think they can do this and get away with it. Then again, it might be because people defend them tooth and nail because 'its fun so who cares'

There's inspiration, then there's straight up copying. You ripped the PvZ models and made them voxel. You didn't even try making your own.
