I laughed (and almost cried) during the main menu (it took me 5 times to get through). I like the level within a level idea. It played smooth. Good game!
This seems like the start of a good game. I played until I had accumulated over 1,000 points but never saw how you lose resources, life, etc. But was fun trying to shoot the bugs in a circular trajectory.
With more complex elements and clues it could be a fun game. I would figure out a way to have the player remember the items they want to use in each scenario rather than just tell them what they used.
