Thank you :)! Yeah there are a lot of fun cool synergies with the upgrades once you give it a few play throughs. 372 is really good for only the 4th try! I agree about the arrows. I thought about removing the collision but ultimately I kept it in to make it a bit harder. This way it avoids endless rounds and keeps the quick play runs to 1-2 minutes max. Appreciate the feedback even post voting 🙂.

Let me start by saying that this looks really really good and the music and sounds are so nice to the hear! It is super well polished and I love the idea of setting up a elemental show. My only problem was figuring out the gameplay. I wish the instructions were a bit more clear as I'm sure a lot of people didn't get a chance to fully appreciate the game. It took me a few play-throughs before I finally got the hang of it.
I was reading the graph wrong initially (even after reading all your comments and pictures you posted). For some reason my brain saw down arrow on the First and assumed I look from the top down first. Once I got that sorted out I figured out that the entire thing is a chain reaction which is really cool (Initially i though it was just 2 cards at a time)! Having to sort your cards in the correct way to get the most points is outstanding idea. Having the bonus element is a great add!
It appears the game ends after a certain amount of shows which makes sense for a leaderboard. However this wasn't made clear initially so it seems like the game goes on forever and its hard to know how many shows are left.
Overall this has my vote for the most unique game mechanics and use of strategy! I would have never been able to think of such a creative game like this in only 3 days. Awesome job!
This was the most refreshing game of the jam, hands down! I don't think any other game made me laugh like this one did 😂! 5 stars on the creativity for the theme! I've played most of the games so far but I don't think any will be as unique as this one. The music and sound effects were absolutely perfect. It's a quick game but the end had me wishing for more! I would love to play an expanded version of this with more scenes ( also more challenges to manage during the filming). But I'm sure that's what was planned had time been more lenient. Great job!
Hi, thanks! I do have a browser build but I couldn't get the online leaderboard working on the Web build in time so I only uploaded the Windows build. Now I see that was a mistake as no one wants to (or can't) play a Windows only game 😞. I asked the Mod if I could share a link to a Web version so we'll see!
Wow what a standout entry! I can tell you put a lot of time and effort into this and it shows. I'm a sucker for minimalist/retro style and you absolutely nailed it! The visual and audio effect feedback was excellent. The game mechanics were intuitive and pretty well balanced. I could easily see this going on Steam if you choose to expand on this (boss rounds, level changes, lots of options!). The take on the theme was standard but done extremely well. My ONLY thing I would change would be the background music (kudos to you if you made it though). The drum and snare were a bit harsh and I would have loved some more relaxing lofi, synthwave, or retro game music. Either way I could see this hitting top 3 if not first for sure. Nice work!
Super fun and easy to pick up! I like how the timer quickly picks up after each opponent. The dicotomy of the outline and the object really makes you think quick on some of the items and makes it trickier than you would initially think! Also, the art style stands out a lot here and fits really well. I would have liked a bit more audio feedback when the gladiators take damage. It was a bit confusing at first as they heal and take damage before the visual garbage throwing FX take place. Nonetheless I think this is one of the best uses of the Arena theme so far, great job!
Very enjoyable! It was very easy to pickup and play. It was a bit hard to tell when the beat changes to a double or triple hit. I think if the enemies were a bit tilted ( coming in from the top at a angle perhaps?) then you could discern between a quarter note beat, eighth note etc a bit easier. Great job setting up the scene and getting three songs in for this! I got 890 for my max score :).
The first thing that hits me is the game feel! It was really well done and felt great finally killing the boss for each round. Paired with the satisfying audio for the points system, this really has the whole package needed for a great highscore game! Excellent take on the arena theme. I only managed to get through about 6 waves so maybe I'm missing out but a few extra tweaks (like a boss on both sides or multiple nukes) would be a fun progressive challenge. Great job!
Such a unique game! I love the style you guys went with. Everything looked awesome. The game mechanic of having to carefully pick which color to suck up and shoot was very interesting. It took me a few trys to realize I had to carefully plan each attack. The only down side was being left with 1 life and no paint to pick up (unless im missing something). Definitely super creative though and very well made!
Cool game! This gave me some Zelda-style nostalgia and was really fun to play. I appreciated that you were able to get an upgrade system and three unique areas with different enemy abilities all within the time frame! Maybe it was just my web-browser but I think having CTRL as the swap key made my game crash. If I started hitting CTRL to pick up candy too fast, the game would crash. Perhaps changing the keybind to E or something would solve that but I'm not sure. Because of this I was only ever able to get 2 stars in a single play through. Either way great job!
Thanks for the clarification! I think I was adding the first ingredient multiple times to make sure it was put in the cauldron and I think that's why it wasn't working. Also the bubbles tip to know when the cauldron was done was much needed. You are right on the Bezi logo, I didn't notice it the first time. It would have been cool to have a Bezi customer as well, but all the customers were so well drawn and the little backstories they all had were awesome! I nearly got a 5 star rating before a customer with a monster head came in which I swore was suspicious but ending up being innocent 😂. Great game! Thanks for helping me along with it.
Short and simple! Great concept of a pumpkin escaping the farmers harvest :).
I think making the map completely or mostly dark and putting a light on the pumpkin could make it more interesting/scary. As it stands the key was a bit too easy to find. The darkness would also make the wolves and farmers scarier as you wouldn't be able to see them from so far away. I didn't see any use of the Bezi Ghost for this though..
Easily 5 STARS on the Art and Visuals! I loved the style of your game from the last jam and am happy to see it here for this one as well! It really gives me Celeste style vibes (this is just as good if not better).
For the gameplay - the movement was a bit tricky to get the hang of and that caused it to be a bit challenging at first. I didn't figure out the mouse click dash but I was still able to gather $1800 for my high score. Great job! I'd love to see a longer version of this with a few more mechanics.
This has to be the best stylized looking game in my opinion. Huge kudos to the team if all of this was drawn for the jam. Even the subtle animations made the entire game look extremely polished.
My only problem was with the gameplay. I'm not sure what I was doing wrong but I could not get past the first customer. I tried mixing every possible combination of potions and he did not want any of them 😂 (was it not sugar, calcium, vanishing potion?). Also, I couldn't quite figure out the stirring/bottling as sometimes it simply would not bottle my potion.
I wish I could have seen more customers as the game idea and design was really well done. Not sure if the Bezi logo pops up later in the game but I didn't seem to see that theme anywhere.
Heads up to anyone trying to load the game on Firefox. It wouldn't work for me but switching to Chrome solved the issue!
The game idea for this was super intriguing to me! A light breadcrumb trail is such a cool concept that works so well for a horror genre. The upgrade system to make it farther and farther is also a really interesting mechanic. I can really see this being a solid premise for a full feature game.
Unfortunately I had quite a bit of lag and a few visual bugs (pink textures). I see that it was targeted for windows so I understand that's probably just a WebGL issue.
The enemies did not seem to hurt or hunt be down which I was expecting them to do. Again this could be a WebGL bug but adding in that extra scare factor would add a lot to the routing in my opinion.
Bugs aside it looked very nice and the dark lighting really fit the mood! Great work! Would love to try it on the Windows build once the jam is over.
What a blast! I love the art style for the characters you created. The Bezi ghost looked really good as well. The game play was super fun and just the right amount of difficulty for a one time play through - it took me three attempts to win. I really liked the different abilities that each totem possessed. Awesome job to all!
I love the unique mechanics for this one! What a clever idea.. And the use of the Bezi logo was top-notch. The animations for the enemies and having the "endless" snake for the main Bezi was genius (we will never know how long he actually is 😂). I agree with Ryyoken that an increasing difficult or a timer would be a fun challenge to add. Not sure if it was a glitch but one of the 3+ candies gave me 50,000! Good luck to anyone trying to beat my score of 64,500 :).
Wow what an overwhelming review! Thank you so much for all the kind words :). I've never had such a positive response before but your review made the long hours making this all worth it. Of course I couldn't do it without the help of Bezi and a few Unity Assets for the environment. Just got a chance to play your game and left a review as well, cheers!
What an excellent entry! This one really stands out. I was especially impressed with the visual quality and lighting — the volumetric effects and uniqueness of each room were very pleasing to explore. Even the intro screen caught my attention with its atmosphere and eeriness.
I absolutely loved the game’s concept. Playing as a kid cleaning a spooky, abandoned building felt like walking through a first-person haunted house. The magic mop following you around was a brilliant touch, and the tension between looking down to clean or looking up for ghosts was genuinely terrifying. Every single scare got me — even when I restarted after dying and knew they were coming! Each of them activating in a different way kept me guessing until the end! The phone tutorial was also a fantastic way to introduce the mechanics while keeping players immersed.
The only small issue I ran into was during my second playthrough: after dying once, I was only able to find six ghosts instead of seven (and I swear I searched everywhere!). Restarting the game fixed it, though, and I was able to finish without any problems.
Easily one of my favorites so far. Fantastic work!
!!!!!!To anyone trying to load the game -- It does take a while to load (unity loading bar stuck at 90% for about 3 minutes for me), but it is well worth the wait!!!!
Wow! I have to admit, when I first walked into the temple, I didn’t think anything could actually scare me — but I was proven completely wrong! The sound design is fantastic, and the scares literally gave me goosebumps and made me jump in my seat (no exaggeration). I’ve only played a few games from the jam so far, but I wouldn’t be surprised if this is the scariest one yet!
It took me a minute or two to figure out the controls and the goal, but once I did, I was fully immersed. The visuals perfectly complemented the eerie atmosphere, and that thing had me terrified to peek around corners. I also really appreciated that the game had a clear beginning, middle, and end — it felt like a complete experience from start to finish.
Bravo to the whole team! My only small note is that the Bezi theme felt a bit minimal, but the way you incorporated it into the design still worked really well.
540 is my high score if anyone wants to try and beat it! Super fun entry! I appreciate that its short and simple. The game was just challenging enough to make you keep trying until you win. There was more strategy to the character movement than you would initially think which I also enjoyed. The special interactions throughout the level were an awesome addition and it felt great when teleporting across the map just as you were about to get caught! Well done!
Oh man what a fun atmosphere! It gave me "Lighthouse" vibes mixed with ancient horrors. I love the feel and poly-look of the game, especially with how you made Bezi look. The ghastly appearance with the animated eyes were really well done!
The gameplay also felt super immersive with the various NPC's. I can definitively see this being a fun survival game with more time to cook on the upgrades system. Great job!
Awesome work! I think you did a great job on the art and audio! The Alien Tutorial System (ATS) was masterfully done. The perfect way to introduce the game mechanics to a new player. I thought the comedy fit perfectly and was one of my favorite parts. I wish there was another purpose for the money as you seem to accumulate a decent amount throughout the game. Perhaps a end game goal of "Earn $100" or something? Either way, well done!
