I've missed that during the voting period! You've done a really good job =)

Everything is there, I think you just need some polish for the UI and that's it! Cool music, cool sound effect, cool style, loved it!

Hi there!

I played several of the games during the voting phase and after the results were published, and I recorded the sessions on YouTube.

Personally, I would love to see other people play my game, so I thought sharing these videos here might be interesting for some of us. Sorry that our commentary is in Italian!

Also, sorry for the generally horrible audio, we are not professionals; we just connected a microphone and started playing.

Maybe adding a way to change the size of the player? I enjoyed it like that, but even on full screen the resulting “handheld” was a bit small here (but I’m on a 4K monitor).

Or maybe a way to see the image of the handheld or not.

Not sure though, I really liked the experience as is ;)

That was really really cool!

I played for more time than I want to admit 😆

Can I ask how you developed it? I can see only a big HTMLfile with the JS inside,  did you do it by hand or is it just the "builded" version?

The situation was like that:

  • I hit all the cars
  • the ambulance run away leaving the crystal behind
  • I collect the crystal (with E i think)
  • Then I could move the camera around with the mouse like usually, but every input with keyboard was not working (WASD movement for example).

Is it more clear? I don't have any idea on how this can happen 😅

Good job! I had a hard time with the T-rex initially, but on easy mode it was easy peasy (the T-rex is just static in a corner, right?).

In the second part, though, it was not so clear to me. I ended up doing two or three of the tasks, but then the game stopped accepting my keyboard commands. I'm not sure of the reason.

Pure curiosity: Did you record the voice for the men in the city? It was a funny touch to hear them complaining about work in front of a caveman twice their size :D

Really nice entry!

I love the art style and the two phases, of the game.

The "negative" points have already been pointed out by others: compass seems broken, too much money at the beginning.

I have a small thing to add, I feel that shooting with J and K, but having to use the mouse to click (for the spyglass for example) is a bit strange. It could be worth using just the mouse, or use Q and E to shoot (so you use just one hand to move the ship).

We'll try to make it more stress full then :P

For the music... I know, unluckily is not my area of expertise and I end up postponing it too much and in the end, if the time is up... you know.

Thanks for you comment!

For mastodon, I've been trying but (for me) it has a feeling of twotter/x/blusky that kind of social that has too many small comments and that you need to "always be there". It's not really my kind of platform, but there are lots of people, it's worth a try.

Thanks a lot :

Late to the party (of this topic), but we still have 1 day to go!
If someone is interested this is my submission:
https://itch.io/jam/game-off-2025/rate/4085013

I'm planning to polish and rewrite "more properly" this game, so I'm also looking for some feedbacks if possible :)

Nice! Arts is cool, music is good...

It's a pity that the blocks are not timed correctly with the music though :(

Thanks a lot ! We'll work for sure on the audio part (but not only) ;)

I didn't find the password and I'm stuck at the end. Is there a password somewhere?

I think that the kind of "bad image" style could be interesting, but you should do the effort to implement it in every scene. A more coherent visual identity will give the game a big plus.

Loved it, but a bit frustrating trying to understand how to place the ladies and the trap. But we reach the end so...

Good job! A really nice entry =)

As other already said, what's even the point of submitting it to this jam?

The idea of a game jam is to freely share your game with other people that are doing the same... and you put a payment on it.

A specific part of the "GameOff", sponsored by GitHub, is to share the source code. And you did not.

So... thanks for letting me know that I wasted my time checking your page. I've look at almost 50 games right now and this is the first one that requires a payment.

Repo is still empty 😅

There is something... but... I'm not sure, I'm confused.

While playing the game I was thinking: did I end up on a different jam for some reason?

I really loved the graphics and sounds/music... but I must admit that I didn't understand what to do...

Fishing is not my best skill I would say.

Nice concept and graphics, I would definetely play a polished version of this.

I was stuck in the same situation of other comments :(

The repository you provided is empty. The main idea of Githubgameoff is to have the code opensourced!

The game is enjoyable, thanks for submitting it!

Almost impossible to play. Not sure how to move, and lots of glitches with textures. Sorry :(

The repository you linked is empty :(

I love you. Winners. GOTY. More on this tomorrow. (check this on twitch, or youtube "game off") Love you

The URL of the repository is a 404 page, I think you put it as private.

We had fun playing, simple game, thanks for submission!

Thanks @macmist for your message! I'm glad you liked it =)

About the productivity you're right, is the amount of words you can write in one day.
We choose to hide it, because... because... I don't remember T_T

In the next version I think it will be shown in some way; this same feedback arrived to me on other channels too

You're welcome!
You can use tools like coolors.co to check if two colors have good contrast or not. ;)

Thanks Hank, I'm glad you liked it!

Didn't know where to leave a comment, since it's not possible on the main page, but I wanted to share some feedback because the game is really adorable. Was hoping to unlock something else after the fridge but probably it's not developed yet. Cute graphics and lovely music :) Just to let you know, it's possible to continue cooking while the game is paused 🤭

It's fun enough for a simple game, I was able to accomplish my mission before mum's arrival.

But the UI was really messed up for me, I think you can try to test on different screen sizes.

Really liked the music and the overall experience. I'm a bit frustrated about collisions, that I find a bit too "pixel/square perfect".

Real point of improvement: fonts and color. Yellow letters on blue water is almost impossible to read.

Repository link give me a 404 page, I think you need to set the repo to public ;)

If you're interested in game development, you have plenty of time in this jam to build something while learning.

Don't think "big", find a kind of game already known, the type that you can find tutorials or other examples online and that's it...

Phaser is good for lots of 2d games. Building a platformer or a top-down game is almost a no-brainer.

I saw your game at BCN Game Fest but I didn't get the chance to finish the demo, so... here I am :)

The demo is fun, pretty straight forward and simple; it gives a good vibe and I would love to try the full version once it's completed!

I have anyway some small feedback for you ;)

1. I'm playing with an Azerty keabord layout (it's the drawback of living in France), and having the jump on Z but the two action buttons on X anc C seems awkward.

2. I can jump both with the Up arrow and Z, but when I want to "jump down" I can do it only with Z.

3. With pumpkinhead I was expecting to being able to shoot crows facing up, not a big deal tough.

In any case, you have my follow! Good job!

Simple but effective!

Good job! The game is really smooth, and with no issue. But to run the downloaded file I was asked to "trust it", as windows defender was a bit worried.

Love it! Good job  <3

Have you tried to remove completely the strings or to leave empty strings? (like ``, or ` `)

Because the undefined is usually a javascript way of saying "I'm looking for this, but it's not there". Using empty strings could "solve" the issue without modifying the code, I hope.

The idea is really cool!

But I found lots of undefined here and there :(

My compliments for the idea!

Hi!

Being sure to always reach all the string in game, or test weird paths of the game, could be difficult.
Lots of command need to be inserted by hand, and, there is no copy-paste 😬

If you know how to play a little in the browser's console (or in the JS files): I'm happy to share with you something that you can use to magically type your commands, always in the same order...  without typing

Let's start with a function that let us simulate the typing of any given word.

function insert(input) {
  input.split('')
    .forEach((c, i) => {
      setTimeout(
        () => document.dispatchEvent(new KeyboardEvent('keydown', { keyCode: c.charCodeAt(0), key: c })),
        i * 4
      )
    });
  setTimeout(() => document.dispatchEvent(new KeyboardEvent('keydown', { keyCode: 13 })), input.length * 5);
 }

If you paste this function in the console, you can now use it like

insert("OPEN DOOR");
insert("TAKE THE BONE"):

Not so useful, as you need to type all instruction one by one (but at least you can copy-paste them  👀

Adding some more JS magic we can have a list of words to iterate with a simple function, and then, use only one command to "go to the next value".

function* inputsIterator(inputs) {
  let index = 0;
  while (index < inputs.length) {
    yield inputs[index];
    index++;
  }
}
const iterator = inputsIterator([
  "OPEN DOOR",
  "TAKE BONE"
]);

With all the above done you can write

 insert(iterator.next().value);

in the console and the first time it will insert "OPEN DOOR", the second time "TAKE THE BONE".

Is it clear? Yes, No? Available for explanation in case.
PS: This does not work on itch.io, but only when you test locally.

I think is never displayed.

It's overridden by a hardcoded part in AvventuraNelCastelloJSEngine.js

If you remove that line, magic!
