Great demo! Enjoy the game mechanics, top down view and the death animations. Has a little story element and sound suits the style. Would love to see this turned into a full game.

Hi there, your offer sounds interesting. I'm a programmer looking to build a small top down survival horror/action game, or a few, that can be played in a browser. I have a larger project in the works which is going to take some time to build, but I would like to start promoting my efforts and gameplay style in the interim and I think this collaboration will be a great opportunity. It will also allow me to have assets to reuse for prototyping since the type of art I need doesn't really exist.
The art won't be that demanding and pretty simplified which will allow more to be done in less time I think.
I sent you a Discord request from kjb0077 if you're interested.
I'm a programmer working with a writer and composer to create a top-down survival horror game that is story-driven, similar to Resident Evil and Silent Hill, but incorporates slow to fast-paced action and adventure mechanics to create a more well-rounded experience similar to Diablo, Doom and Hotline Miami.
I'm looking for anyone looking to get into pixel art or has entry-level experience looking to improve their skills. If this is you, then I think this would be a good opportunity for you as the art requirements are basic, but you will also be able to create a wide variety of assets that would be suitable for a survival horror game. There will also be an opportunity to create some basic animations (probably 4 frames at most).
There are no real deadlines so you can pace yourself, as long as there is some movement. I work full-time, and the other team members work on other projects as well. The project will probably take a number of months to complete.
I can show you a preview of the gameplay so you can see the art style (created by me) and also get a sense of the vibe and basic gameplay mechanics to help provide inspiration.
This is a passion project for me an I'm invested to get it finished one way or another. I do intend to provide a demo once the game is complete, but monetize the full game. If anything does come of this then you would be compensated for your work financially, and there may be the possibility for more work as I have plans to expand this project into a series.
If you're interested then please let me know. You can also reach out to me on Discord @ kjb0077.
Hi there. I'm working with a composer and writer on a top down survival horror game that's quite involved (meaning it will probably take months to complete), but I'm looking for an entry level artist looking to improve their pixel art skills. I think this might be a good opportunity for you as the art requirements are very basic, but you would get the opportunity to create a wide array of assets from basic animated character sprites (only a few) to environment objects to tilesets.
The work is unpaid, but if anything comes out of the project, you would be compensated for your work. Me and the others are doing this during our free time as I have a full time job, and the others have other projects they're involved with as well. This basically means that there aren't any strict deadlines as long as the project is moving forward.
Creative input is always welcome as long as we stick to the project guidelines and visual style.
If you're interested then let me know. You can also reach out to me on Discord @ kjb0077.
Hi there,
I'm actually working on a top-down survival horror game and have a small team volunteering their time as well. A game writer, music composer, programmer(myself), business guy. All unpaid for now, but we are working on a game that we hope to monetize upon release, or over time. We need a pixel artist to help out, who can also contribute visual ideas. I don't think the art will be too demanding as I'm approaching it from a simplistic art style and might be a good learning experience for you if you're interested. I can do some art myself, but is not my core interest and hoping to find someone that can fill that gap.
The game will have elements inspired from Hotline Miami (although not as extreme in terms of visuals), and also modelled after classics like the early Resident Evil series, Diablo (without the looting-focused mechanics), classic Doom, and similar games. It's not a small project, but also not that big either I think. The goal is to make a game that will take a person a couple of hours to finish. It may also take a good couple of months to finish or make progress, so I'm not promising any quick timelines, but one way or another it will be finished as this is a passion project for me.
I have a preview test version of the game I can share with you so you can get an idea of the gameplay mechanics, art style, sound and general vibe.
Let me know if you're interested. I'm not on reddit, and have a discord. Maybe just create a new discord account or use the browser version if yours doesn't work. Alternatively we could try communicate through alternate means. Not sure what else people would use, but I'm sure we can work something out.
Hi there, I am working with a friend on a small project. It's a top-down survival horror game inspired by Resident Evil, Silent Hill. The gameplay style and story progression will be similar to Hotline Miami as far as dialogue goes.
Like Resident Evil, the player will find a few notes scattered around that helps reveal more about the core plot and character motivations, and there will be a few interactions with NPCs that will require dialogue, but there would only be a handful like Resident Evil and similar games.
This is unpaid as me and a friend are working on this in our free time, but this is also a serious project for us, meaning we want to complete it and try to sell it, also approach indie publishers as well. Your contribution would be credited and if anything happens with it financially, you would be compensated. There may also be the possibility of future collaboration.
We would like to work with a writer who can help develop the overall story arc for this game (we have a series planned if all goes well). And we need help developing the characters from personalities to motivations. We also need dialogue and notes written to help with story progression throughout the game.
I already have an early prototype of the gameplay and general look and feel. I've gotten through the hard parts, and now we're focusing on the design and story.
I sent you a request on Discord from kjb0077 if you're interested in working with us.
Thanks in advance.
Hi there, would you be interested in composing a few ambient background tracks for a survival horror game I'm developing? Probably only need a few (maybe 4 or so) but would need to be loopable and around 5-6 minutes.
This would be unpaid for now as I'm doing this in my free time, but I am serious about getting it done and making something out of it.
I can't tell if this would be your thing based on your Youtube channel tracks, but I would be happy to see what you can do as the quality sounds good. (if those tracks were composed by you?)
If you're interested then let me know. I also have a discord (kjb0077).
Looking forward to your reply.
Hi there, I am programmer working on a top-down survival horror game that is story-driven. Gameplay and look is inspired by horror/action games like Resident Evil, Silent Hill, Diablo, classic Doom.
I like your art-style as it looks gritty with emphasis on shadows and lighting which I think will help compliment my vision.
Am also working full-time so this is a side-project for me, but is also a serious project I am working on with a friend as it's something I've been wanting to do for a long time. Unfortunately it is unpaid, but if anything materializes from this project then you would be compensated and there would always be the possibility of future collaboration.
I am looking for someone that can help visualise characters, character portraits and enemy designs, as well as map layouts (mostly detailing areas from a top down perspective). Don't know if you can do pixel art designs, but I definitely would like to work with you to get some concept art together to help visualise the game.
My Discord username is kjb0077 if you are interested?

Hey there, I am a hobbyist programmer (many years experience with programming, gameplay mechanics and planning for fun) with very basic pixel art skills, not even close to your level. Built my own engine years ago, but ultimately decided to move onto using game engines built and maintained by people who do that full-time. My preferred engine due to performance, ease-of-use, and scalability is Construct 3. Much better in my opinion to Game Maker 2 and GDevelop, and much faster to prototype with than Godot or Unity which I don't even have the time for - tedious and boring to work with.
I also have a day job, but I've been working on my first serious game the past couple of months, a survival horror/top down game focusing more on Resident Evil/Silent Hill style storytelling and atmosphere, but combining it with some gameplay elements from Hotline Miami, GTA 1+2 (first GTA games from the 90s that were top down), and Diablo (fighting hordes of enemies, but more like Doom with less focus on looting and equipment mechanics)
I draw a lot of my inspiration from 90s pixel art games as they were very original, fun and unique at the time - and I still play them here and there to this day. Given how bad the AAA industry is and how indie games are still gaining popularity, I think it's a great time to be working on these kinds of projects.
I am looking for a long-term partnership with a pixel artist willing to allocate some spare time, and ideas, to help bring this game (I have a series planned) and future games to fruition. The team will always be small and the art style I think will be doable and manageable for you (literally looking at creating mostly from 8x8/16x16 to at most 64x64 pixel sprites and tiles - with only as much detail as needed. You would be part of our little team (2 people currently - me, and a friend who would help with planning and business/legal related stuff) and if we can get our works released and hopefully perform well, share in the rewards and credit.
I have an early prototype preview of the gameplay which I can share with you via URL. No need to download anything as it is built using web technology (can be hosted on Itch.io if needed) although we can export to different platforms like Steam.
I sent you friend request on Discord from kjb007.
Looking forward to your reply.
