This is a really interesting post. Definitely making me think a lot about the language commonly used surrounding how games do/don't function and what it's really getting at! I think the comics comparison is apt, though [as someone who is too comics-pilled lol] a lot of contemporary DC writers actually feel like they've swung towards appealing to Batfam/cozy AU enjoyers when it comes to characterization - esp. in the non-mainline stuff like Wayne Family Adventures but you do see it pop up in some of the more recent Batman and Nightwing runs. It's a fascinating case of an expanding audience base/differing fan interests over time actually effecting how characters are presented and writers creating new storylines to shape those interpretations!
