Thanks for playing! I've been meaning to type how I got the some of this to work so here it is for anyone wondering.

1: for the file system
I got it to take in custom music using the FileAccess class on Godot. I had it .READ the file and used a variable to hold it. Main menu script had that function called when the button was picked to start it.

2: for the beat

I had my wireframe shader call for a function that used  AudioEffectSpectrumAnalyzer which has a method that sets a Hz range to track, then I had it turned into a float. I clamped that float with a global variable to adjust on each use of the shader. That final variable was what got sent to the shader to thicken drawn lines. WARNING: Should probably not attempt if you have epilepsy or if someone with that could see the screen. There was a few times my screen looked like a strobe light having multiple strokes at once before I fixed it . Especially when tied to the sky shader which was a epileptic war crime at first.

3: The glow was just lucky! I set a world environment node on my map that added glow and some fog to the game. I did not expect the glow to look as good as it did. This is basically what I was looking at all the time till the final day of the gamejam.

I just looked up that game and it looks awesome. Adding it to my wishlist now.  Thanks for playing!

Thanks for playing and oh man I gotta try out daftpunk on this now. Your comment just made me realized I wanna see derezzed on it.

I'm glad you like it!

I do gotta say you should check out the commenter below who linked a video of a song they added. It's perfection

Wow this was just perfectly implemented. Swinging and shooting feels great separately and when combined!
Love that you could roll up sides of walls and that boxes show gradual damage as you shoot them. This was just plain slick/sick.

One thing I can say is to add future difficulty would to have your tongue not stick to anything near the spikes. It was easy to get around some since i could just slowly click through tight spots without worrying that it wont stick.

Super hard which is perfect since it mimics all those games I used all my quarters in as a kid at arcades lol. Only issue was I kept dying during a large dust storm that completely hid enemies.
Awesome game!

This was just slick. Doing dance moves to stop bulls was fun.

First sneeze type game I have played and its the best so far.
I had a fun time beating this. The idea of this game is smart and I hope you continue on with it!

Definitely reminded me of line rider which is a good thing! I liked the paths you set for the levels. Hope you could make a level editor as that would be sick for a game like this. Good job to you both!

One thing that I noticed is that after getting the 3rd button on level 3, i immediately flipped over on flat ground without hitting anything.

Found out I am terrible at making masks lol. I had fun trying to make smiley faces that somehow turned demonic looking. This was a cool idea!

Your artwork is absolutely adorable. It looks so smooth too. Nice job!

I had fun with what you made! I took a screenshot because really liked the idea of making the plants humongous. If you add a goal like having to make each plant a specific size it could help give some more playtime out of this.

That was awesome. When I was able to wall jump repeatedly after swinging across the map it was so nice.
I had a few camera issues whenever I swung too close to the walls. You made something nice!

Reminded me of the kairosoft racing game I had on mobile years ago!

Movement was so nice in this. Your implementation of swinging was done well!
One thing that could help would be adding in a check if your playable character falls out of the map. Letting that teleport you back to the start of the level would be helpful. I got unlucky and had my character fall through the corner on level 2 right where the 2nd bunch of fans are placed. That choke point must have pushed me through a small gap from the combined swinging & wind.

I had a ton of fun sliding around to slick the floor to trip them all. This was a nice idea for a game!

I am happy to hear it worked well with your music. Thanks for trying it out!

Thank you for trying it out!

I'm going to test a ton of ideas this weekend to improve the beat/main path so there won't be as many annoying geometry shapes rotating into the path.

Thank you for playing and the feedback! This weekend I will be having a ton of time to implement improvements. I'm just amazed I got the menus finished in time to implement the MP3's.

Oh my god that is the best video that could be made of this game. You win.

The humor in this was great!

Thanks for trying it out!

I got some ideas that I plan to start doing tomorrow for the game. Gotta plan out some more shapes to add that wont intersect within the playable area.

The world you designed loos so unique and I just love that floating turtle in the distance. Had some issues trying to figure out what to do but you got the movement and sliding down great!

nicely done! Hope you enjoy making more maps with this. That editor was pretty good.
One thing I noticed was that the "clear" button would not actually clear what I edited into the map. Then saw that trying to play one of the two levels in the editor would just copy my custom tiles on top of whatever was in the one i just opened.

Definitely a slick idea to make that editor!

You have made the most adorable looking protagonist yet in this gamejam.
I love everything about them!
One thing I noticed is that the elevators dont seem to want to come down if you have to respawn. I got stuck in some areas and had to restart to fix it.

nicely done! Combat seems interesting as you gotta be sure you don't accidentally slide into a slime with a older thrown attack.

One thing I noticed was that completing the warehouse room caused my character to glitch and be unable to move. That was the only time i got soft-locked in the game.

That was so cool! Had trouble getting that last area but I had so much fun losing. Movement and shooting was so slick.

The combat screens were slick in multiple ways. Loved that using the special attack did a different thing too. That was really fun to play.

farthest I could get was 10k points. That was super fun.
Absolutely love the way the map generates new stuff ahead of you.

The visuals are so cool here. Seeing the buildings move in the background was slick as hell.

I loved flinging the slime across the map!

I liked what you have done here! Making my character speed jump across the map was fun to do. Good job!

The way colors are done is so nice. Reminded me of some of the old newgrounds games I played a ton when younger. This was really well done

That was addicting. I could not score higher than 123 lol.
The sound effects were done so nicely and it all felt so smooth to play

I absolutely loved everything here. The way new mechanics are slowly added each level was so well done.
The way the portal looks is so cool too. I really hope you both continue on with developing this game. The premise is one of the best I have seen yet.

Thanks for trying it out!

The moment I turned the glow setting on I had that exact feeling. Before it was only a plain wire-frame look lol.

Thanks for checking my game out!

Definitely going to continue on developing it :)

I want to make a freefall section that you dodge stuff that turns with the beat of the music. Going to be interesting finding a way to implement this.

Thanks for trying it out!

I want to test out tilt controls like on the newer monkey ball games.

That was some of the most fun I have yet playing these games. Absolutely ridiculous premise that showed ingenuity.

That was just cool. Loved that picking up the cellphones added that popup on the screen.
