Thanks for the response. Yes, I set sail for a new island at least once, and it did not save that unfortunately. I accidentally browed away from itch in my browser in that case, then discovered the game had effectively reset. Then I tried again several times with progressively shorter game sessions to try to diagnose it on my end (was it my browser settings? or maybe the Windows app worked?).

I had no idea that the game did not save until you left an island, though, so much of my testing was bound to fail -- after losing a lot of progress a couple of times, I was just testing very short plays to try to figure it out, without success.

It would be great to be able to save any amount of progress (not just post-sailing), or have an import/export save file at a minimum (even if it's just the local save data) so the the user can save as often as they want and recover progress in case saving errors in the game.

I have trouble with saving in the browser and on the Windows version played on Porting Kit on MacOS.

I can start a game and play for awhile, but if I exit in any way, it always starts over launching the beginning of the tutorial. In other words, I lose all progress I make -- no progress saves once I exit the game.

I first played normally in the browser and discovered the problem, then tried again in the browser after turning off all privacy etc protections in case that was the problem (not needed on other Itch.io games, but I thought it was worth trying); same problem. Finally, I went through the hassle of installing the Windows version and getting it to run on MacOS via porting kit.

In all cases, the game essentially resets to zero whenever I exit and restart the game. Very frustrating, especially after my first play of a couple of hours...

Having said that -- the game itself is super fun! I hope you iron out the bugs and get it working (natively on MacOS eventually?? or a paid full browser version that saves?)

Yes, it's very difficult to read most things right now...
