Hmm, the visual style here was interesting, like a cut-out sort of style but somehow also having that Claymation/stopmotion feel? I liked it, even like lot others I was bit lost on the actual musical side of things, but I will admit, I'm also like 100% tone deaf anyways, and so I just resolved to click anything and everything that moves. Conceptually also interesting, potential is certainly there. Good work on this.
I was going to add different monsters that each had a different behavior, but then I scaled down due to the shortage of time. That could've made things really challenging.
This is a great concept and has a lot of potential. I got like super lost though and didn't really know what to do, besides spam clicking the ghosts. I like the concept of a musical puzzle thought! Im curious to see if you'll further develop this.
I'll try to flesh out some parts of the game, and add a few bits here and there. Stay tuned.
Cool visual! The gameplay is a bit lacking and quite confusing but there's an interesting idea going on with the music notes.
Like everyone else said the game look nice, but does seem to lack direction.
An interest concept, but it badly needs some clearer directions. Some way to identify the notes of the ghosts rather than just clicking on the witch, perhaps a keyboard that lights up down below? Or something in the art that hints at them? Spam-clicking is the way to go here currently, but that could be turned around by more identifiable notes of the ghosts, some clear indication of which notes are in the melody, then cranking up ghost speed so that you are frantically looking for the correct next note.
I like the almost paper-cut out aesthetics of the game! I’m a bit confused what the music notes are supposed to do so I ended up spam clicking the ghosts instead haha! I like the stop-motion style and the spooky sound effects too!
Very interesting game! The artstyle was cool and eerie, but I had a very hard time understanding how to win or what was happening, even with reading the rules. Great job though!
Oh, please, rate this new one game https://itch.io/jam/scream-jam-2025/rate/3962987 nobody rate this, everyone must go from one game to another to be a visible...
I like the creativity and that the visuals are so different from what I typically see in jams! I couldn't quite figure out what I needed to do though. I reloaded a few times but couldn't find which ghost was F. Do I need to connect a MIDI input to play or are the MIDI numbers in the menu just for education? Regardless, this was very interesting and feels a bit like an interactive art exhibit and I mean that in the best way possible!
The ghost that doesn't growl (i.e. make a beastly noise) when you click/tap on is the one with the "F" note.
Your game is very unique-looking! I think its pretty cool. Great game.
Thank you.
This is mind bending, once I'd read the comments and understood how it worked I managed to get through to the end! I'd actually really like a fuller version of this, the melody was creepy and the concept is great. Buttons on the screen were hard to spot though and the C/B buttons seemed to play the same note.
Thank you for giving my game a shot. The C and B notes sound the same indeed. I'll have to fix that after the game jam is over. I'm glad you enjoyed playing "Wingin' It!".
Cute little game, I liked the graphics you ended up choosing, it looks a bit unique and grungy but it works together. It blends a little too well, as it's hard to see things during the game. Maybe doing that or using some kind of 'highlight' when you tap the ghosts would help them pop. Think it froze on me a few times and had to refresh, thanks for sharing your entry!
Thank you for playing my game. Did you find any difficulty in advancing to the final screen?
As with others I appreciate the creativity on the audio/visual front. I did however struggle with the music portion and had no clue what I was doing. You could definitely attribute that to user error.
Great audio for the game creates a good atmosphere! I'm not sure what I did but I think I won haha. good art direction too very interesting. Good submission!
Thank you for playing. The game wasn't about winning per se, but about finding out how to dispel the ghosts with melody.
Didn't really know how to play, love the visuals tho
Thank you for playing my game.
The start of the game is very horror, the sound and the overall visual were amazing, but if it was really scary game, it would be the best of all.
Thank you for trying my game.
Well, that was something. I have to admit, I have a very bad musical taste and a poor understanding of music, so any musical challenge in a video game is almost always exponentially harder for me. This one was not an exclusion. I clicked on some ghosts many times, and then a musical sheet appeared, and a melody played. That was it, I was not even able to say if I won or lost, and what results my actions had.
I say all this not to say that the game is bad, just to highlight what a strange experience it was. And although I felt like I missed something, I still kind of enjoyed it; the strangeness of visuals, spooky sounds, and cryptic mechanics all added to the sense of mystery.
Thank you for playing my game. A few players said the instructions weren't clear enough, so don't be too hard on yourself.
I really liked the aesthetic and as a fellow musician, I enjoyed the incorporation of music.. There were just too many hiccups in the game play for me that it was hard to really figure out how to play the game or what the goal really was.
You say to start with the 'F' note which is the ghost that doesn't growl (makes that low beep-ish noise I'm guessing), but things never seemed to progress - only when I'd start clicking arbitrarily. I also didn't like the fact that I'm trying to keep ghosts from hitting the mansion while trying to figure out the order of the ghosts to kill. I'm just constantly refreshing my browser to figure out a different pattern to click.
Also, in your instructions when you're explaining things - I would advise not to speak in riddles. I understand what you were trying to do aesthetically speaking, but having to decrypt your instructions is making it a bit tough to understand things than I think it needs to. I just want to play the game, get the fullest experience, and move on to the next game.
I tried to play this game, and I even thought having to go to the comments to try to piece things together was fun, but it never really amounted to anything. There's a 'Rewind' button - which is either bugged or the purpose of it isn't very clear to me. I assumed that it was to restart the game, but the enemies didn't reset or respawn. At some point I was just sitting there staring at a screen with no activity. I would also suggest putting the rewind button not in the upper left corner, but somewhere where it's less easy to mistake for a close window button.
Overall, I liked the style and the spooky-ness, but I think this game could be an enjoyable experience had the directions been clearer.
Thank you for your kind words. I wanted the experience to be a little mystique, to add the scary flare. The Rewind button takes you back to the first page in order to refresh your browser (if you were on a PC). And if you pay close attention, it says "Refresh page" when you click down on it with your mouse. Browser games can't restart on their own.
The game has an interesting idea and unique hand-drawn visuals. Like everyone else, i didn't understand how to play the game. I read the comments and you said to start with the ghost who doesn't growl. I tried and got all the notes except for D4, but then i think i figured out how to complete it. If you polish the game up and add more guide, it would be a wonderful game.
Thank you for your kind words. I wanted to make the game a little bit magical, hence the last rhyming caution.
Interesting game and concept, I liked your visuals a lot but didn't really understand how to play the game past clicking the ghosts even after reading the comments/instructions. I tried playing around with which ghost to click first to see if that would affect my note order, but it didn't. I always got E3 first
I thought the instructions were clear enough. Anyway, thank you for playing and enjoying the game. The first ghost/note you need to unlock is the one that carries the "F" note. How do you know which ghost to target first? Easy. The ghost that doesn't growl when you tap/click on it is the one you need to focus on first. Keep tapping/clicking it enough times to get the "F" note, then you can move in any order you want to unlock the rest of the notes, without losing your progress.
