This would be a super fun way to practice typing! I loved the graphics and the classy 16 bit soundtrack. It did take a minute for me to figure out how to start playing the game and I haven't been able to outrun the skeleton (or maybe I don't type fast enough haha), so a bit more guidance on how to play might've been nice. I wonder if there would've been bigger words if I managed to advance further.
I might come back to this to help me get used to my new keyboard :P Had some issues noticing the obstacle words popping up (could use a sound cue/animation maybe?) but generally a fun little time
Thank you! I have noticed a few people say they couldn't notice the sudden words, so I am planning to change that in an update for the next time you come back to practice your typing skills :)
Very fun and also very tricky! Really enjoyed this :D
The horror of not being able to type fast enough is real!
Fun idea! Evoked nostalgia for those old typing games we'd play in school
Here's my playthrough of your game. It's at the 6:51 mark of this video.
A very interesting and original idea to use text commands to progress through the game!
Unfortunately, I found it hard to notice the commands appearing in the level itself while I was focused on the upper window with the words, which caused me to lose repeatedly.
I would also suggest adding a longer and more varied music track instead of the current short loop.
Very cool game! I liked how the game kept the player on their toes by throwing out certain commands that force the player to type whatever words are on the screen so that the cat can get away from the skeleton. It would be nice if the game alerted the player ahead of time so that they can prepare for what is coming, but this is still a pretty solid jam submission.
Really interesting game, didn't expect something like this for the jam, though it would be a little better if the command you need to type to do certain actions was moved in place of the main text so that it was more in focus
How do I play?
Theres no clicking in this game. It's all typing. Once you are running, you type out "start". Hope that helps
pretty different! i like it, would be nice if when pop ups like the jump appear it clears previous typed words
I really appreciate the feedback, gamer!
