I feel very lost? I understand and am interested in the basic premise, but I can only find two websites and neither of them seem to have the information I need (I can figure out the entity but then there's no information on dealing with it, which even if I found it I'm not sure how to format the email response). Am I missing something?
First day, there are 2 mail. One of them has already responded before. It is for showing how to respond. After that you can search clues like what this entity did ? Like cold, emf, visual anormalies...
I understand that - I do the searching, I find information on the entity, but then there's no information on how to deal with it. Also, how closely do I have to follow the format of the original email? Because that's a lot of potentially mess-uppable typing in what players are convinced is an urgent situation.
(also, out of curiosity, how familiar are you with Hunter: the Reckoning?)
The front-facing part I want is a natural-feeling email exchange. Say whatever you want to the recipient, anything that would be helpful to them. What's working in the background as the software is checking for a few main keywords (it tolerates misspellings to a certain extent). Each player has their own email writing style, and it will be accepted as long as it contains the required keywords. My desire is for people to feel the universe I've created. Even though I know the keywords and could just type them to achieve success, I wanted to avoid revealing this to the players. Instead, my aim was to provide the genuine feeling of having a conversation with another person. Fell free to write whatever you want.
The clues have to show the iron and salt website. the name of the place show you the who is the ghost and why she is . ( and banish.com show how to banish her or the example mail shows same ). I must also state that because it was built in only one week, I didn't get a chance to deeply consider the consistency of the search engine's keywords ( Unnatural Search website ) , nor could I test what other terms people might use. Please forgive me for any imperfections.
I'm quite familiar with the White Wolf settings, but I was mostly focused on VTM. However, the inspiration for my game was actually more Supernatural than Hunter. I realy be happy to see a person who knows white wolf stuff :)
Wow this game is seriously underrated, it got me into a strange flow where I enjoyed researching every little detail about the cases and writing them into my notepad. The accessibility and quality of life elements are insanely good, I could just use my regular windows commands to copy and paste, the game always managed to look good throughout changing screen sizes and text layouts.
I do wish the layout of the desktop was a little different than that of a normal person, since you are a member of this secretive SCP foundation cult. Something like a whole procedure that you need to perform when turning on the computer or even turning it off, like signing into their own private vpn to unlock their supernatural detective intranet. I think it would add to this air of secrecy. Maybe a daily rotating password that you get sent in your private mail, to log into the intranet. Maybe another app that contains regular reports from tv, newspapers and such with comments from your SCP foundation cult specialists.
The writing is superb and sophisticated, the vibe is eerie and mysterious, there is no hand holding you are immediately dropped in to solve cases. I just love it! Keep up the excellent work! And if you like you could check out our text based game for the jam as well! Your feedback would mean a lot :))))
Wow, thats a unexpected good feedback. Appreciated it. You've made some great suggestions and I'm definitely writing them down. This was my first game so it has some missing content. <3
If you don't respond to enough emails in real life this game makes you respond to more! Pretty cool idea.
Welp, I let a lot of people die. Woopsies. Very interesting setup you've got here. Genuine creepy factor. I didn't fully realize I was meant to save the people, until I got fired...
Yeap, it has unorthodox gameplay. Failing on the first playthrough is common thing. 😊
I googled dev in the game randomly and it returned a result. Amazing.
What a brilliant idea! I absolutely love the aesthetic—the style is really cool! The desktop/email simulation mechanic is fantastic and totally hooks you in. Congrats, this could easily be a great full game! I really enjoyed it!
This game is fantastic. I loved every minute. This could easily be turned into a full game, as this was awesome. I love writing, so creating emails in this game was shockingly fun. 4.5/5 Best game from this jam I've played so far.
I am happy to be able to turn the game in my mind into a real game and to be loved by someone. Thank you. <3
This looks quite nice, I love the style!
I really like the concept here and the desktop mechanics are really well done, very convincing. I'm a big fan of the aestetics!
