There's lots going on here and it will definitely make players think before activating, plus there's enough random events to mix things up and nobody is at a clear advantage until it's all over.

While I think the moodboard is a bit of a hassle, it's still a  requirement, and they even provide the resources to make one.  By not including one the submission technically missing something.

Could this be done using any symmetrical map?  Does it have to be deploying along long board edges?

I'm a bit confused on objectives.  Is only one objective active each round?  Do active objectives carry over from round to round (is the whole board slowly waking up, or are the objectives more like whack a mole?)

Should all heroes get to reroll the volatile ground rule?  Why not heroes and units that have Caster, and units without, even heroes, not?

Thanks so much for the thoughtful feedback!

the scenario is intended to work on any symmetrical map

The deployment along the long edges isn’t a strict requirement; it’s simply the default format i used. The mission plays just as well using:

  • diagonal deployments

  • cross deployments

  • corner wedges

  • or mirrored custom layouts

As long as both players have equal access to objectives and terrain, the scenario functions as intended.

How Active Objectives Work

Only one objective becomes active each round, determined by the D6 roll.

Active objectives do not carry over — they’re not cumulative. You're Wack a mole description is pretty spot on.

The idea is that psychic echoes flare unpredictably, forcing players to adjust positioning each round.

But if consensus prefers ramping escalation, I can very easily add a variant rule for “persistent resonance” so they remain active after activation.

Hero Reroll on Volatile Ground

The intent was: Heroes get a reroll because they represent steadying psychic or personal discipline.

It wasn’t tied to the Caster rule to avoid penalizing non-Caster heroes.

But your suggestion actually makes a lot of sense — units with Caster probably should also benefit, since they’re literally designed to manipulate unstable psychic energy.

A clean revision would be: “Heroes and units with Caster may reroll the Volatile Ground test.”
