it will be immersion breaking if the comments are misspelled the same way every single time, but i'm down to add one or two comments that contain an overwhelming amount of misspellings because they're obviously typing with one hand

What about several versions of the same comment with different misspellings? That would imply that multiple people are writing the same thing, or some people are repeating themselves, which would be an in-game explanation for why we see the same comments multiple times.
For example, you could have "She's so hot"; "shes' so hott"; "s'he sso hot"; "shes ao hot"; "Shes sdo hot"; etc. all be different comments that show up.
