Obvious jank as to be expected for a seriously ambitious project but dam they did a good job making the system feel stylish and unique. Already chatted with the devs and they already seem to be aware of the jank I've noticed. I'm really keen to see where this game goes in the future.

Simple but catchy game loop, super stressful, I can see why they called it "Penguin Panic" now. I stacked up on cubes not realizing the health bonus seemed super rare and might have come in handy. Super hard to aim but if it was easy it wouldn't be leaning into the slickness/panic of the game now would it?

Rue❄️Brie already knows how I feel about how rage inducing this game is because it punishes you consistently but by god does it feel nice when you finally get it right. It was nice to hear from the dev about the issues they came across and how they solved them, they have a solid understanding of programming so I didn't have much to complain about there, mainly just wish I could store my nuts so I didn't lose them... every... freakin'... time.

So f*ckin' stressful, but in a good way.

I haven't been so frightened of pixels in a long time, especially not as much as I was when playing this game.

Every wondered what it was like to have a whole defense line charge you in American Football? Well here you go, except this time they have claws and 6-8 times the body weight.

I like that the bears dance on your corpse when you die.

The matches on the third screen soft-locked me on the 4th screen, cool that they carry over but oh lord do they punish you.

A way to skip the intro video having to fully play every time would be good.

I got soft locked at the batteries by accidentally jarring them in the under-hang just above the fish tank level.

I also noticed there is some glitching between the fish tank level and the level to the right? I imagine this was supposed to be a cutscene?

I tried to be efficient with my button use but got too frustrated and started ham fisting the shit out of the game, my poor keyboard will never be the same. The devs on this did a great job to make something unique and made good use of the tools at their disposal, definitely something I hadn't tried before.

TLDR:
Once you find out this game isn't hentai it is actually a really well done game by this team. 10/10 would get Starchild's number again.

Super funny that you start as a highly balding fat guy, reminds me a lot of Aqua Teen Hunger Force's Carl, always slick babyyyy.

Good use of audio ducking on the nightclub music!

That Game Over screen, I hit it instantly, and it did not disappoint.

A little sad I couldn't use the sink and toilet, but super funny that the sounds were added for the person in the toilet.

I want to know what the blonde's "beath" is :P.

It is a nice touch that I don't have to completely restart when hitting game over.

Some spelling mistakes but otherwise pretty solid.

After playing a bit I realized it would be nice to have some sort of indicator to press the interact button to continue after obtaining an item.

Being able to quick finish dialogs when I've done them before would be good.

God, that final event when you finally go to get starchild's number was good.

The outro was bangin' too.

Once you find out this game isn't hentai it is actually a really well done game by this team. 10/10 would get Starchild's number again.

Glad to hear you had a blast, we look forward to building out the world and adding more cool features. We definitely wanted to balance the baby mama payment and at the start of each day it does go up a bit more but we were silly and left that balancing to the last 2 hours of the jam ahahaha.

Some of the text scrolled too fast for my feeble brain to keep up with, a longer timer with some sort of "skip" option to skip that line of dialogue may be good. Super difficult, had to re-think how I use my cats, it would be nice if I could re-use sleeping cats. Some of the platforms had you sinking into them and the controls were really wild to control with how much 'slippiness' there was. Well made game otherwise, you just have to be a masochist to really enjoy it haha.

The controls were a little hard to master, the wall runs were a little difficult to initiate. I fell through the floor on the first level several times, after reading your comment it is unfortunate you didn't have the volume setup for resetting the player. I can see promise in the game but as a "parkour" like game it definitely needs tighter controls and maybe an option to toggle the assistance the game gives (for the more garbage players), some time spent tightening those up and refining the look of the game and I feel we could have a speed running mirrors edge on our hands here. Great Work

Slots are always good fun, was confusing at first with no real tutorial but it becomes intuitive after the first 3 to 4 rounds. I maxed min/max rolls and then maxed my wallet because banking on those jackpots is easiest. Only thing I could've asked for is some explanations around why I succeeded or failed drills.

Interesting game, always fun playing beyblades, was confused about the keys without looking up the instructions on the page, including which keys to press on top of the guides you have given would make it better, even just having it use the left/right or a/d keys (seeing as you don't use these in mid combat) would have been more intuitive. Well done on the audio and syncing it all, great look, love that psx feel. I could purchase everything in the shop and go into negative so that seemed a little confusing. Overall well done, can see a future for it if you can patch the couple of minor issues!

Things got wild when at full speed, things spawned in at a really close distance so it definitely tests your reaction speed, I did get caught off the side of the map for a good 30-40 seconds so it was confusing trying to return to the road, also going into turns would move me to the side of the road I wasn't on so it was a bit disorienting, overall it was pretty solid but had some rough edges! For a 9 day period it is a solid effort!

Thankyou for playing and thankyou for the feedback! We have a pretty big list of features and story arcs for all the characters that we will add in future updates but for now this is what we could fit in such a short time. It is good you mention the closed in space, we originally intended to have ramps everywhere with half pipes etc. leading to/from the floor so you could practice your tricks outside the timed arena and start from the top of the toilet so you would have this empowering feeling looking at the bathroom from above but ran out of time at the end and decided to close in the top for now.

TLDR:
The devs on this game f*ckin' cooked, and their product was 99% pure. 10/10 would recommend.

A little confused about getting past the main screen until I slapped my keyboard a bunch.

Really interesting take on platformers, also interesting the devs chose z, x, and c for the controls.

Level 4's sword was hidden for me, I had to spam x while walking around.

Creative idea of switching the controls when using the mace. I had to keep fighting the urge to press the up arrow to jump, maybe also having some ducking mechanics would've been cool.

The sword was hidden again for me on level 9 so I had to spam x while walking around to grab it, seems to show every time after resetting though, level 9's difficulty definitely ramped it up a bit but really good use of the mechanics at play, really impressed.

The colliders for the spikes on level 10 were pretty brutal/unforgiving and the sword was also hidden again.

Level 12 had me stumped for a bit but again another interesting use of the mechanics the devs put in there.

Level 13 was a tricky one too but once you pay attention to the name it makes sense.

Touching on the spike collider issue again if I walk close i'm fine but the moment I jump up and land (on the same spot) it kills me.

On Level 14 it wasn't obvious that I could hit the center object the way the devs expected so I tried everything else several times first.

Level 15 was clean.

Level 16 was pretty easy for me because I had tried a move like this earlier with the pit level maybe switching the order of these maps would be good to make sure the increase in difficulty level is consistent.

Maybe adding a bit of a difficulty spike to the witch and creating a 2nd/3rd stage to the fight would make it crazier.

All around the devs on this game f*ckin' cooked, and their product was 99% pure. 10/10 would recommend.

Curse you @Spookto and your all or nothing mentality! But in all seriousness thankyou for the feedback Spookto would be glad to hear everyone enjoyed the art, we were very proud of "Cool Canary" and "The Porcelain Throne" sign too!

Thankyou for the feedback, we were getting a lot of feedback around this and have started patching it to make it more lenient and obvious! We also didn't get the time to put all the grind rails in because we only really patched it and fixed it about 2 hours before release ahahaha.

Simple mechanics but pretty cool, would be nice to use the numpad or numbers on the keyboard for dialing and pressing enter to fire, then you could really make it difficult and even plan it for controllers.
You can definitely abuse that right corner bend though, I stuck 3 x 6's in that corner and it would fire 3 bullets on the cross when I dialed it in, felt like America punching down on third world countries.

Another embodiment of Slick Rick I see haha. Don't forget to add to your collection if you want to follow the updates!

Fun game, crazy how much stuff is going on at the same time, definitely getting punished by the random generation at times. Sh*t gets really crazy once the camera starts going in and the epilepsy phase starts to really kick in. There was a round where I managed to go immortal for about 3 min until a carpet eventually dragged me out of bounds!

gusteau points xD

Thankyou! We definitely got punished by the strong lack of tutorials :') definitely a lesson learned for next time, we have pushed a lot of improvements since the last jam version but as you know that isn't available until after voting! If you really like it definitely add it to your collection! <3

Ahh I see it now, it just looks like set dressing to start with so you miss a decent chunk of the info at the start.

ahhh, this makes sense then, that sprint would've been amazing to know about ahahah

Super fun, spawning of the water messed me up a couple of times, a dash mechanic to get between water splotches would be really good. The tutorial never went through what the 4th and 5th item were. It would be awesome if we could use 1-2-3-4-5 keys for the items instead of clicking with mouse so we can just use the keyboard (and you could map this for controller then). There is a restart button in the tutorial but it doesn't seem to do anything? I found it funny that I could set a redirect sign that leads into another redirect sign but they ignore the original sign the second time, would be a funny loop mechanic to keep someone held in place haha.

Had to really slap around my keyboard to figure out the controls not realizing that w was jump and spacebar had to be constantly pressed for bursts of speed, but once I got that down it was a breeze, smart use of of UI to show the balance, great premise for a game, nice and short levels makes it easy to get in and get out if on a time crunch. Would love to see where this goes.

Fun game, short and sweet, super simple to learn, kept dying to really dumb stuff but once I got into a flow state it all came together, solid effort to the team on this one! (I was a little confused about the drop after the 3rd penguin though thinking I would die, maybe some sort of guide arrow or camera movement hinting downward is safe would help)

All I have to say is "BIG" burrito, take my money and Jesus take the wheel.

(1 edit)

Pin ball madness sliding everywhere, I feel like the physics is playing you more than you are playing it (and I kinda like it that way), solid effort, funny dev, keep it going and release this thing.
I especially loved the crunchy sound effects the dev made with their mic.

The game is definitely fun, listening to the developers and why they made certain decisions was even more fun, keep it up!

Having watched this game being developed on the game jam discord it is a pleasure to finally play it. If you are looking for Slick controls, janky PSX graphics/audio, and no regard for your own safety I'd definitely recommend this game, 10/10 would do again.

(1 edit)

Developer really cooked with this game, solid work, some soft locking with the boxes on levels 4 and 5 but having the reset button helps for you to quickly try again. Would love to see angled rocket jumps and also rockets/hammer being used to move the boxes so we can move them from a distance/un-softlock them. Overall really fun game, tried to handicap myself by using grapple hook only but the start of level 3 made short work of that pipe dream haha!

Having watched this game go through development it is a pleasure to finally play it. The little touches like the octopus leg in the main menu, the ink splotch transitions and ink particles when double jumping were enjoyable to see. The controls felt a bit slippy which kept catching me off guard particularly with the tentacles tricking me but definitely a fun game to try to master. Impressive work for only a week with a solo dev. Maybe in future some sort of grab/hang (or grapple) using the tentacles to swing between platforms etc.

I have also been accidentally posting on pages a lot hahaha.

The text at the bottom of some of the cards was hard to read (but this was in the Web browser version).

Hovering over the skills and having the highlight outline change made me think it was a button.

The little mini games like spin the wheel etc. seemed pretty fun, letting the user do an extra click on the wheel itself might help engage them in the gamble a bit more!

Wasn't exactly sure what the downward facing hand was doing.
(I realized after getting it a few times, it seems to be the slickness value changer)

Funny that I could go to the gym at 7y.o haha.
I also did my first potty training at 16y.o and failed :O
Apparently got my first job at 41y.o

Fun that it keeps the history of certain events like "You now have a bully" in the bottom left.
I ended up beating them in a fight at a later stage and thought this would remove them as my bully but apparently not.

Cool premise, well done for a week of development time, can see a future for it, would be really cool to have some sort of animations/visuals alongside what happens. Definitely want to fine tune what happens when and add more options in the future! I look forward to seeing how the game grows.

Broom Broom, solid effort, keep slickin' those tires.

Hilariously out of control, super simple game, but sometimes it is the simple things that you need in life.

Was confusing trying to understand the controls but once the devs showed me on stream it just made sense.

Lube me up and send me on my way to clean the filth of this world

Great concept, strong use of physics, confusing to pickup initially but you get used to the switching once you have done it a few times.

Pretty slick game, well done on the poses and the bullet time was definitely engaging.
