Writing or Music Jams?

Obviously Itch is game focused (despite the ol' comic tab still existing), but have the writers and musicians of Itch ever tried organizing a writing or music jam? Bit biased since I'm a writer but I think it'd be fun.

That would be nice, like the Jams section could be for any kind of jam!

I don’t know much about writing jams, but music jams are definitely a thing! You might have already seen them, but on the jam page right now, I saw the friendly music jam getting ready to start up and the music composer jam! I’m pretty sure the OST Composing Jam is another recurring one, but I couldn’t immediately find the link.

I’m definitely forgetting others, and I wish I knew of writing jams…I’m sure they happen, but definitely would be cool to see someone start one if they don’t! Would it be like a jam where everyone makes a short story or a poem in a weekend based on a theme, and then maybe you could compile them up in an anthology at the end or something? Honestly, that would be so sick

Yeah, exactly like that! I've seen events like that on Wattpad and AO3, and there are enough narrative folks on here to be pretty fun. Might start one myself if I can set a good prize haha.

Thanks for the recommendations on the music jams! I'll be sure to check those out!

i'm personally a pretty competitive person, so i would join a ranked jam, even without prizes, just to have the satisfaction of trying to be the number 1 (not as it ever happened tho).

The sad of starting a new jam tho is that as no one knows you, your jam probably won't have more than 3 submissions (if it end up having submissions at all btw). A couple of people will join your jam, but only a few will submit on it... sad

Of course! And if you start a writing jam, let me know - if it’s not a huge time commitment, I’d love to join :]
