I’m genuinely curious about why this game is so addictive! Could I ask if you had any special considerations during development? Or what was going through your mind when you were designing it—if you don’t mind sharing, that is! It’s honestly incredible; it’s by far the weirdly most addictive game I’ve played lately!

Thank you so much, that’s really awesome to hear! I initially came up with the idea while on a walk after a long day at work, the streets were lit up by Christmas lights and it made me so happy. We had previously made a clicker game in the past, and I came up with the idea of a new clicker game that you progress by making others happy and spreading holiday cheer rather than by just getting rich. I think it really just sums up what that special feeling around the holidays is which comes from generosity, kinship, and love. In terms of the addicting gameplay, I think the sfx and light activation feels rly nice, and that sense of progression is pretty tantalizing. I’m so glad you enjoyed the game!!

I think Owen put it perfectly. I also want to add that we really wanted to focus on player agency. We learned from our previous games that giving the player many options on things they could do and fun systems that the player feels directly contribute to the world. We also want the player to feel an incentive to explore the map. I also believe all the systems playing into each other came out really well in balance. Paroting Owen again, thank you so much for your nice comment!
